Why is Fujifilm AVI seen as anaglyph while it is tagged as 2D?

vreijs wrote on 9/26/2010, 5:15 PM

If I load a FujiFilm REAL 3D W1 avi file, I see it directly as an anaglyph, but if I go 'Effects' => 'Stereo 3D', I see it still has the properties 'Standard (2D)'. If I put it on 'Side by side (on left image onleft) - fill width)' (as the FujiFilm W1 provides, I get not the proper vsion.

Something looks wrong, who can help?

Thanks.

All the best,

Victor

is Anaglyph View active in the Preview Monitor? If so, I would think all video loaded, regardless of its source would appear that way.

Hello John,

It i snot that, IMHO. If I paste a W1 avi file I see red/blue anaglyph (of left and right picture). Same for an W1-MPO file, if I do a 2D jpg file, I see only one blue anaglyph picture.

The problem is that the W1-avi (which is a full width stereo file) is not recognized by MEP as a 3D file (although it is presented as a stereo file). So using the 3D properties only makes it worse: 'half width' gives a way-too-wide anaglyph picture and 'full width' gives only a quarter anaglyph picture.

With the W1-MPO file it is done all correctly (it is automatically seen as a full width stereo file).

All the best,

Victor

I have 3 sample files from the Fuji W3 and they work fine for me.  I don't think you need the 3D Properties for the Fuji files. My understanding of the 3D properties is tell MEP how to handle some files like if you have a two camcorder setup.  You have to select TWO clips to combine them into one 3D clip.

For stil images, add to timeline.  If you are viewinng in anaglyph preview, it will still look 'flat' and the colors washed out which you seem to think is only 'blue'.  Technically, Cyan.

To create depth, Select the still image. Go to 3D properties and adjust the stereo depth.  This does NOT make the image 3D, but adjusts the depth of the entire image within the 3D.  For example, inserting another image in front of it.  I have another editor that attempts to actually make a flat image 3D and does an OK job of it.

You can right click an object or clip and choose PROPERTIES, but MEP doesn't display whether or no if the clip is 2D or 3D.  The 3D Properties under EFFECTS is not for that use.

Hello GGrussell,

I am only looking at FujiFilm W1/W3 avi files (MPO work ok):

Some options in Effect-> Stereo3D -> Properties are for indeed two clips (the second and third option), but the last four in the row are for files like form the Aiptek of the Fuji. The problem is that the Fuji file is not properly displayed when choosing the (full width, side by side).
