Why Magix Edit Pro 17 Download Version does not recognise Sony HDR 130XE?

I have Magix Movie Edit Pro17 Download Version installed on my computer. I have also installed the AVCHD Encoder upgrade. Why the Magix software does not recognise the Video Camera Sony HDR CX 130E when connected to the computer? I have gone through thr RECORD routine and chosen HDV Camera. It comes up with the message "Could not connect to selected device." Sony says it is a software problem and they cannot help. I do not know how to download the movies from this camera to edit using MAGIX Edit Pro 17. Please help

Hi

As your Sony records to memory cards you cannot 'Record' the video files using MEP - it is not a DV camera.

Either plug the camera into the computer and use Windows Explorer to browse the camera folders - it will appear as another drive - and copy the video files  to a folder of your choice on the computer.  Use the copied files in MEP.

Or use a card reader with your your computer and copy the files direct from the memory card as above.

The camera manual should tell you where the files are stored.
