WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR MPEG2 CODEC

I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO DOWNLOAD THE MPEG 2 CODEC ON MY NEW COMPUTER BUT GET MESSAGE ALREADY DONE THE MAXIMUM TIMES ALLOWED, AND NEED TO PAY FOR IT, I THINK THIS IS DISGUSTING AS THE PROGRAM COST'S ENOUGH TO BUY, IT SHOULD BE FREE. ANY ONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM.

I can hear you (all caps is t he equivalent of shouting) and find no problem here. I have paid the small one-off fee because Magix have to pay. They aren't ripping you off, but simply passing on the licensing fee required by the developers of this version of the MPEG2 codec.

Thanks for your reply It looks like I will have to put my hand in my pocket and pay, as this is the best program I have found that does what I want .

I hope you enjoy your MEPs as much as I have; I'm now up to version 17+. I was going to add more about cost / feature ratios for various editors, and just what did you mean by 'ENOUGH' -- though that might be a bit heavy after pointing out your shout! :-)
