will converting a mov file to mpeg fix sound levels?

I have a quicktime mov file. After 15 minutes the sound level drops about 3-4 db. Will the conversion straighten out the sound track

I couldn't see why this would happen so I am not sure if converting would do anything....try it and let us know.
