Greetings Magix community,

I live in the southwest desert region of North America. The natural environment has a profound influence on those of us who live here. I have much enjoyment sharing with you 'Summer Storms'. The weather here when the storms come bring us the rain much needed. Things can be very dynamic during the stormy season. I have also been influenced by one of the music masters here in the southwest who has expressed himself in this genre of music Steve Roach who in his very early days in music created music in a way that I will follow ... yet I will do the mix with a bit of my own accent in music ;)

The Magix samples and loops did have what I have needed to create this piece. And of course I have added some to the sound. Last night as I was finishing up on the mix I had the very fortunate opportunity of having nature itself become part of the performance as a very dynamic storm passed through here.

I did some 'field work' of recording the rainfall and thunder that fit very well into the timeline of this track.

This piece will have a very large dynamic range in the level of the sound, and you will find large variations and tempo drifts in the music. BEWARE the thunder will strike ... but do not fear ... there is much beauty in nature's expression here.

The Magix loops mostly, and nature's performance took the stage here. I did very little at my keyboard this time though I did bring up my Arturia V 'Moog modular' VST with the BIG sound it has, poking in a few big bold bass notes along the way.

Well it's time to leave room for your own impressions.

Best Wishes,

Mark ;)

Track Review: "Summer Storms"

Summer Storms is a fine exercise in musical storytelling, capturing the dramatic narrative of a storm rolling in, breaking, and eventually playing itself out.

The piece establishes its mood right from the start with foreboding bass throbs that signal a tense anticipation, perfectly mimicking the heavy air before a downpour. Soon, the rain begins to fall, beautifully underscored by interesting sweep effects and ethereal choir tones that weave through the precipitation.

As the track progresses, the atmosphere intensifies. The rhythm enters about halfway through, accompanied by a sudden boom of thunder. As the rhythm grows more insistent and urgent, more peals of thunder roll across the soundscape, heightening the tension. Just as the tension peaks, the storm begins to lift, marked by a fierce, brief blast of a horn before clearing the air.

It all leads to a satisfying conclusion, capturing the unique and fleeting magic of a rare desert storm. An immersive, highly enjoyable piece of atmospheric music.

@Philip-J

Hi Philip,

I am very fortunate to often have your dedicated and detailed impressions that are always welcome here!

It is these nature based music productions that got me into creating and sharing music. There are a few known artists who express themselves in their experiences of the works of nature that go beyond the categories and labels that we call things. But music fills the gap of what words miss. Those fluent in the language of poetry do come a little closer but the lyrics are always enhanced by the music. And the music department is always busy in a theater and film studio. Those bits and pieces of known artists works that are a part of Magix loops and samples are a fun way to get a song piece down quickly and easily and thanks to them for sharing a part of their creations. But I am sure they enjoy how we put them together to create a song of our own and what we add on our own.

And to add to the fun I did have nature provide some of it's own sounds here ;)

Best wishes!

Mark ;)
