Issues with new version: Losing pointer sync, drop out of sound track

FF22 ha scritto il 24.03.2020 ore 19:40

Version 19.0.2.58 udp3

In storyboard mode, the pointer does not match up with the underlying object as it displays on the preview video window. It is visually like audio being out of sync with the image but it is the POINTER.

In another issue, my sound track plays fine but suddenly for four or so images, there is silence. Music is gone and then it starts up again. The music is there if I hide the pictures track. And oddly, if I move some of the images, I can get the sound to cut out in a slightly different location. They are digital pictures containing no sound of their own.

Then, a real oddity. I was editing and reviewing my objects about 20 minutes into the video and each time I hit the play button, the entire replay went back to the beginning of the entire video and would not let my play from where I was editing.

And then just a question about moving or renaming objects after they've been added to the show. I had some generic names for files like "DJI998-123" and added them initially. I realized that renaming them with locale or person's name would make it easier to identify the video. So I renamed "DJ998-123" to "Fred DJI998-123". Of course, the next time I reloaded the project, it could not find the file. While it offered me the option of finding it elsewhere, I would be nice if I could point to the file with its new name. So the question, is there any easy way to rename and object and still find it or does one simply have to re-edit the project, delete the old object and insert the newly named object.

@FF22

Welcome to the Magix forums.

Have you checked the problem of the pointer/cursor being "out of position" if you open your project in Timeline view, rather than Storyboard? Most users who post here, me included, consider it much easier to edit video in the Timeline view and you may find your cursor is now at the correct position.

The problem of the missing music may be much harder to diagnose since clearly we cannot see your computer! It would be very helpful if you would read this pinned post and give us ALL the information requested there. After giving us this information can you also download and install the free MediaInfo Utility and point it to one your audio files which plays and one which does not. Then post the results of the Text view here so allowing us to compare the files to see if we can see anything obvious as the reason.

The problem of the cursor returning to the beginning of the film every time you pressed Play may be caused by the setting highlighted in my screenshot below, in File>Settings>Program.

If the setting on your computer is as the one shown in the screenshot, then you may need to simply close and re-open the project and/or MEP to cause the setting to be restored correctly.

Renaming any file used in a project will produce the error message you are seeing. You have the option, in that error message screen, to navigate to the folder where the renamed files are located and select them, one at a time, and have them then appear in your project. You should not need to have to re-edit the project, delete the old object and insert the newly named object.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Win10 Pro. Intel core processor i5-4690 cpu, @ 3,50GHz, Installed memory 16 GM.  64 bit operating system That's the best info unless there's something else to show details without messing too much. I have just ordered a new harddrive to increase c: boot drive size (cloning should be fun (ha)

I'm actually working with mostly individual digital camera images that I'm melding into a slide show so looking at the images in Storyboard mode seems easier. I don't understand why the pointer is off. Basically I'm looking at Picture A in the preview while the pointer is on Picture B. As I slide the pointer to Picture C, Picture B now shows. So it's more or less off by one image. You are right - in Timeline Mode the pointer seems correct. But I've been using Magix for years and never ran into this.

Looking now, it seems that the pointer is correct earlier in the project but goes out of "sync" further into the project. Might my project be too long or contain too many Cross-fades or titles? They sync issue can be confusing when you are trying to edit an image (gamma or sharpen, section or zoom) and the pointer is not on the image you expect. I might be able to get use to it. (g)

The MUSIC or sound track is actually ONE long track or instrumental. Although, I have CUT it in a few places to allow underlying sounds from some video inserts to play over that long track. Maybe I will try removing it and replace it again but not cut it. Rather I will try just diminishing the portions where I want the video's sound to be predominant. Again, it is odd. The music at that point is just GONE. No hint of why it is silent and then picks up again in a few seconds.

I restarted Magix and the Playback did not jump back to the beginning.

It is possible that I don't have enough free space on C drive. I've got about 7gigs left.

And now twice in the last few days I've gotten this message after working for a while. See attached image.

Hi.

It could be that your processors GPU only supports Intel® HD Graphics 4600 and the specs for your version states that Intel 520. While a Graphics processor isn't actually needed as it can all be rendered in software it may make the machine slow down or crash if loaded with large or complex projects. Also are you running Direct X 11 or higher? Do you have the latest drivers for your equipment on your computer?

MEP requirements.

Processor: 2.4 GHz (Quad-core processor with 2.8 GHz or better recommended**) RAM: 4 GB or higher (8 GB recommended**) Graphics card: Onboard, min. resolution 1280 x 1024, 512 MB VRAM and DirectX 11 support (recommended: Intel Graphics HD 520 for MPEG2/AVC/HEVC) Hard drive space: 2 GB for program installation

Hi

. . . . It is possible that I don't have enough free space on C drive. I've got about 7gigs left . . . .

There is definitely not enough free space left on your C: drive - this is certainly contributing to the issue. Ideally you should have at least 20% preferably 25% free space of the drives capacity and, IMO, with an absolute minimum of 32GB.

. . . . And now twice in the last few days I've gotten this message after working for a while . . . . .

I occasionally get the 'Hardware Acceleration has been turned off message' on my laptop, which is a similar specification to your computer, and usually occurs when working for a long session and have been scrolling back and forth through the timeline quickly or when playing the timeline and shifting the timeline cursor back and forth.

Ensure that you save the project regularly in a long session and occasionally restart Movie Edit Pro to clear all the caches etc.

Sorry, I missed the bit on the end saying you only had 7 gigs of hard drive space on your C: drive. John is definitely correct. Only ever store programs and operating system files on a C: drive if at all possible and keep as much free space as possible on it. De-fragmentation of the hard drive should be automatic in Win 10 so that should be OK.

It's not that 'Old'. No real reason it shouldn't work, my 'old' system was older 😁. Still worked, just a lot slower.

Did you set the page file size or did Windows?

Seems excessive but if Windows set it then leave it.

Are you on some form of laptop? What types of external drives do you use?

Always but always have more than one backup disk.

Have you the capacity to add an extra internal drive as that could help with performance but you should see a large improvement anyway.

Also do check you have the latest NVIDIA drivers for your card.

Thanks. It may not be that old but *I* am!

Desktop system. C: and D: both 1T. I think Windows set the Page file. You know I have not looked at that type of thing in ages. The current USB is hanging off the desktop. It is 5T. That's where all of the digital images from both a camera, a phone and the Action video camera, are stored. It was a trip to China in Oct that I'm getting around to compiling. Frankly, I can't seem to pare it down much (g) These vacation "slide" shows are probably more for me than any outsider since they run so damn long!

I've got some other usb hard drives, too hanging off laptops.

I don't know if I can add a third internal. Will have to look but I just ordered a 2T ssd. I may clone the 1T c: (boot) drive or maybe try adding it as a third internal if there's wiring for it.

Just looking around I still have Magix 2015 and 2016 installed. I guess they were not replaced as newer versions were updated.

Will now fire up the latest and see if more space helps.

Oh, ANYONE know if PROXY handling would help with this editing work? I really don't know much about it but in some of the Drone forums it is mentioned to speed up editing.

And really, thanks everyone for pitching it. I was getting really frustrated the other evening.

If the system bogs down on playback then yes, activating proxy files will help. you could try using the lightning symbol to reduce frames as well. If all is well don't bother. Sometimes slowdowns are also caused by the audio as strange as that may seem. Using the wave driver is nearly always preferable and maybe try 4 buffers set at around 8192 for both multitrack and preview size. Unless you are using USB 2 external hard drives the hard drive speed should be sufficient to read or write from but I would put the project on your D: drive if possible and write the exported file to the external drive.

Hi

. . . . DJI Osmo Action video camera . . . .

If you are recording in 4K then your computer is underpowered and exporting will be very slow, I have stopped working with 4K directly on my laptop because of the 'slow pace' if forces me to work.

In most of my projects I currently export Full HD, and make Blu-Ray discs so, when I am mobile, I work with Full HD versions of the 4K video.
