Sync problem when doing simple clip with mts type files

erkki.salonen ha scritto il 04.08.2014 ore 18:44

With Movie edit pro 2014..

I have following kind of use case:

1. Import 1920 x 1080 video (mts AVCHD) video to timeline that lasts 10-11 minutes.

2. Add title

3. Crop first minute away.

4. export video as mp4 (tested with and without HW acceleration).

--> Video is exported but video is not cropped but audio was. --> export did not work.

..After several hours of testing:

5. ReEncode mts file to mp4 with Tencoder.

6. Import video.

7. crop 1 minute.

8. export

--> everything ok.

Is mts (Sony HDR-CX190)  file format something that Magix does not handle well?

Hi

MEP handles the Sony mts AVCHD files correctly for me.

Have you installed an 'alternative' codec pack such as KLite or one of th others that are available?

Is your MEP updated to the latest patch?

John

Hi.

I have no alternative codecs. Importing video clips works ok (if testing just import and then exporting it as movie).

If I do just simple test that:

1. import mts type clip.

2. clip something away from beginning (choose clip with mouse, press T-letter, remove first part).

3. export video.

--> no clipping done. Video starts from beginning and audio from correct location.

About latest version, I have 13.0.5.4 UCD2.

Hi,

T makes a cut at the playback cursor position. When you delete the left part, did you drag the right part to the left to close up the gap? Or did you use Ctrl+Del which deletes and closes the gap?

Do you have the video and audio showing on separate tracks? Did you separate the viideo from the audio using the Upgroup command? When you trim and delete the video, was the audio portion also deleted?

Which format did you export to?

Where did the title go to when you did the trim and delete?

Instead of exporting, try burning, but only the first part to see the final effect. From the Burn screen, play the video. Does it do the same thing as your export? Or does it play properly?

Please let us know how you make out.

Yes. I moved the clip time position 0:00:00.  This problem did not appear when using mp4 type video clip when I did same test.

>Which format did you export to?

WMV and mpeg4 was tried.

>Where did the title go to when you did the trim and delete?

Title is in correct position from very beginning of video.

>Instead of exporting, try burning, but only the first part to see the final effect. From the Burn screen, play the video. Does it do the same thing as your export? Or does it play properly?

I am not sure If I did this test correctly. Preview seems to work. But preview works also in problem case.

Hi

. . . . I have no alternative codecs. . . . .

If Tencoder is installed on the same computer then you do have third party codecs installed - they come from the FFMeg part of Tencoder and may be interfering with the Magix installed codecs.

I have followed your procedure with AVCHD files and export is OK - the trimmed section of the video is removed correctly.

Instead of using the T key to make a cut and then reposition the video/audio try this:

   -  Select the clip to be trimmed.

   -  Position the timeline cursor at the point where you want to make the cut

   -  Press the Z key

   -  Export the video

The Z key trims the begiining of the selected clip up to the point where the timeline cursor is and automatically closes the gap.

For information - the U key trims from the position of the timeline cursor to the end of the clip.

This does assume that you are using the standard keyboard shortcut mapping.

You are correct. Usually I have installed codecs separately. I uninstalled Tencoder. Need to double check that all extra codecs are away.

Z - key was good hint but did not solve the issue.

I have another camera. I will retry this case again with that and once more with smaller resolution with current one.

Thanks for help so far.

Hi.

I have made another test without success. Then I did similar test with Pinnacle 17 using same input file. With Pinnacle this worked as expected.

About codecs, Windows told that I have:

I assume that both Pinnacle and MEP uses same stuff?

I might found ? the problem.

I tried another videocamera (HDR-700VE) and same problem appeared. Then I disabled proxy file generation and recreate project. Now clipping seems to be working. Need to test more to be sure that is the problem.

erkki.salonen ha scritto il 16.08.2014 ore 11:07

I have continued my testing with project that had this problem originally. I disabled proxyfile generation and removed all files that had *proxy* in name.

Then I re exported project and everything was as expected.

So I assume that there is something with proxyfile-system. My workaround now is to not use proxy edit mode.
