Hello Community!
Obviously, this Composition/arrangement represents a distinct departure from what I'm usually associated with. However a few days ago, my dear mother was admitted into the hospital with an unknown illness. As I sat at my computer/keyboard/piano/Workstation, this song came to me out of the blue. I started tinkering around with a few notes and chords, and decided to put this orchestral piece together. During my mother's earlier days, she was a professional concert singer (soprano) and sang with many orchestras. So, instead of a strict Jazz arrangement, I assembled musical instruments of an orchestral ensemble (French horns, violins, etc.). If you listen closely, you'll also hear a Jazz bass, drums, etc. The trumpet phrasings are most certainly Jazz inspired and engages the more classical instruments in, I guess, in a rather unique, but uncontentious fashion.
By the way, I've always entertained the notion of doing something like this, but had never really felt inspired enough. (For all the musicians at the forum, don't ask me why this arrangement is in G-minor, because I really can't tell you). <lol>
Since this is NOT strictly a "Jazz" nor classical piece, I've decided to place this into the "Ambient Music/Easy Listening" section???
Here's to all our precious mothers out there!
I hope you enjoy the presentation.
