@johnebaker

Hi John.

I want to go over to the Intel DCH drivers, preferably before Windows upgrades

Based on my experience of testing this, I would NOT advise it! Before the recent 1809 Win update arrived, and having received a daily reminder pop-up that there was an update for the Intel graphic drivers I decided to eventually take the plunge.

The forced uninstallation of the existing drivers and the install of the new seemed to go without problem, until an on screen message that a reboot was necessary. At which point my computer immediately gave an "error" message that there was a hardware problem (silly me, I forgot to take a written note of the exact message, partly because the screen was so dim, with no means to brighten it, that I could scarcely read it) but it did include the message that Windows was "collecting data" and would, apparently, then restart. That error message stayed at 0% for a considerable time, indeed it never cleared or increased the percentage figure. A forced restart produced exactly the same situation again. In the end I was forced to do a full C:\ restore from my most recent back-up.

My feeling is that the attempted update to the Intel graphics drivers caused some sort of problem for my Radeon GPU, hence the breakdown and the failure to gather any data which might prove useful in diagnosing why the crash occurred in the first place!

I realise you, John, do not have a separate GPU so the update may well proceed without incident but I will only risk trying it again if, at any future date, I have need to open my computer case and then can temporarily remove/uninstall the Radeon first.

@Scenestealer
Hi Peter.
Have you noticed again if you are having the same issue as me with the settings reverting back to default.
I have been in contact with Christopher at support but because I am the only person who has reported the problem, it's hard to track.
It seems to only happen to me when the computer has been shut down overnight and doesn't happen every time.
I have found the way to save my shortcuts and window arrangement because I don't use the source monitor or project folder so it was a pain when the settings went back to default.
Now I have a shortcut to restore quickly.
He thinks it may have something to do with the settings config file within app data and the date and time registered every time the program is closed.
If it's happening to others , at least it shows it's not just me and it would be good to let support know about it.
Doug.

@DugsBugs

Hi Doug

No further default reset problems here. It may have been finger trouble with me, or that the small recent patch did not save the settings.

No advice from Magix on whether you should go to W10 1903?

@browj2

Hi John

13. Rotation slider causes blurring of rotated video: Can only remove the problem by using the up/down rotate buttons then zooming in on image to remove borders. This bug is known to Magix.

This bug in VPX10 is still present in VPX11

Strangely, if you apply just the Horizon leveling slider without the Automatic zoom ticked it applies a section vertically but width stays the same. I don't think it should do this. Still blurs though.

Peter

@Scenestealer
He doesn't think it is a windows issue.
I have 1907 on disc to update at some point.
His first suggestion was to uninstall the program and reinstall with the download version but I think I'll put up with it for the moment. Uninstalling has caused me problems in the past.
The only program setting I need to change every time is the space bar stopping and the rest are saved in shortcuts.

I want to thank you all for your candid comments/reports about VPX11. I got an email from Magix, offering VPX11 for a smokin' price of $150 USD. I have said here in the forum that I would never buy Magix again until they offered GPU support. So I was tempted when I read in the blurb about support for GPU's.

But then I read the fine print - a redirect to two pages about necessary hardware. There I read that you still need an Intel IGU to get the full benefits of your GPU. But I have an AMD CPU. (In fact, just upgraded to an 8 core.) So no deal for me.

And I have been reading about the non-fixed bugs in VPX. Guess I'll stay with the Competition's Media.

Started with MEP 11, then 17, then MX, then MEP 2013, 2015, then 2016. Changed to the fast competitor after that, which worked fine with my non-Intel hardware. Then bought a used Dell with an Intel GPU, just to play with MEP again. Installed MEP 2020 Plus in March 2020, even tho I don't like losing patches if I have to reinstall after a year.

Testing on a Dell Vostro, <s>i3-8100</s> updated to i5-9400 w/ UHD 630, 16 GB 2400 DDR4 (CL15), Win10 Home, heavily NTLite'd. Now with GTX-1650 Super OC'd. Added a WD Blue M.2 for OS (PCIe 3), Apps, Temps and Video-In. 2 Monitors. A WD Blue SSD for outputs. (SATA III.)
