Hi

. . . . I think it happened after a GCC update . . . .

Are you running Windows 11 using, for example, Wine on Ubuntu?

Hi thanks for responding. It's on Windows 11 running gigabyte control center. I just started using a new PC with GCC for the Geoforce graphics, the app was working fine but when the controller prompted for a update and the app would no longer load. I'm wondering do I need to disable the GCC completely or is it something I can fix through security controls? Thanks for your help

Hi

Thanks for the clarification.

Did you do a Restart not a Shutdown of the PC after the update?

We need more information, which version of Video Pro X is installed, and what is the specification of your computer system, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full.

Additionally assuming the GCC updated the graphics drivers what is the version number of the drivers it installed.

@Michael-Banks1180

Sorry to hear about the health issues you've experienced recently.

I'm sure @johnebaker will reply to you when he sees your post but certain things in your information stand out to me as items to consider:

  • Your version of Win 11 is not the latest. Currently 25H2 is the most recent release. It might be worth checking whether a Windows Update is available to you.
  • It is generally recommended by Magix (and other users with NVidia graphics card - I have the same core one as you) to use the Game Drivers rather than the Studio Drivers.

Can you go to Control Panel>All Control Panel Items>Security and Maintenance>Reliability Monitor and see if any entries have been created showing errors in Video Pro X for any day you tried to run the app. Please double-click on the app name and that will open a screen showing a detailed report, with the option at the very bottom of that screen to "Copy to clipboard". You can then paste that data to a future reply you make here. Doing this may enable us to suggest what is causing the problem and how to resolve it.

By the way, you will see I have tagged both you and John in this reply (both names are highlighted in blue). Doing this ensures you and John receive a notification of this post (if you have selected to receive notification of any replies). If you wish to do this simply type the "@" (without the quote marks) and without any following space and you will immediately see the name of anyone who has posted to your thread. Highlight any one, or more, and hit the Return key and they will be highlighted (in blue) and notified.

I updated to the latest windows update, I uninstalled the Video Pro 15 app and reloaded it. It now says the application has failed to launch due to it's side by side configuration is incorrect. I've had this software for several years and never had a problem before it's been reliable and all issues were easily repaired. I still think I'm overlooking something simple.... I appreciate all the help!!

@Michael-Banks1180

Thanks for the additional information.

I uninstalled the Video Pro 15 app

How, exactly, did you do this? I ask because, if you used only the default Windows Uninstaller that will not have removed everything associated with the original install! The reason for this is that the Uninstall log used by Windows is created at the time of that original installation. Because certain files and registry entries etc. are created on first and subsequent runs of the software the uninstall log knows nothing about them and so does not remove them. Bitter experience amongst a number of users has shown that it is often those files etc. which are the cause of the problem and their continued presence merely continues that problem!

For a very detailed tutorial on how to ensure everything associated with a prior install is safely removed please see here. Although referring to problems with the update to Win 10, the basic principles remain the same.
