Blank error dialogue box appears during MS2022 reinstall

VinceTwo-Two wrote on 11/11/2025, 8:51 AM

I am getting a blank error message dialogue box from the Installation Manager whilst trying to reinstall MS2022 Platinum after upgrading to Windows 11. It just offers 3 options: Abort; Retry; Ignore, but has no other information whatsoever. The last two options have no effect. The App worked fine before the upgrade. I have performed a complete uninstall (incl registry clean) and reinstall using the installation download from my account but the installation continues to fail with the same message. Any ideas please?

@VinceTwo-Two

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

Sorry to hear about the problem you are facing but I have a vague memory that there is a post in the forum about a known difficulty when trying to install MS2022 under Win 11. At the moment I can't find the post, sorry!

I will tag a fellow moderator, @johnebaker, to ensure he sees your post and may well be able to offer more advice to you.

Hi

We need more information to help diagnose the issue(s) you are having:

The specification of your computer system including Windows version and program version, see this topic for what is required, and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full, and also what monitor/screen resolution(s) you are working with if this is a laptop.

I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

Assuming this is the Download Manager that downloads and installs the program, check that your Antivirus (AV) program is not blocking the download/access to the Internet. How you do this will depend on your AV installed.

Hi John

These are the main specs of my PC:

Device:        Acer Aspire  C24-963
Type:        Stand alone Home PC Desktop
Processor:    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1035G1 CPU @ 1.00GHz (1.20 GHz)
Installed RAM:    32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable)

System type:    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Storage:        1.84TB  (total available)
Graphics:    128 MB  (integrated)
Installed     RAM 32GB

Screen Res: 1920 x 1080

Windows Ed:    Windows 11 Home
Version:    25H2
Installed on    ‎31/‎10/‎2025
OS build    26200.6899
Experience    Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.253.0

I have Norton AV running. As I said above, I used MS 2022 in the version of Windows 10 installed before I upgraded to 11, and it worked. After the Windows upgrade, Norton AV was still holding open the internet permissions from that installation. However, even after I neutralised Norton, the MS2200 installation failed.

The version of Magix Music Maker has installed fine with no problems. Its solely MS2200 that is causing issues.

I use the PC mainly for domestic activity (emails, documents and spreadsheets, etc) , but I also have Pinnacle, and Power Director 365 available to use for wedding/party/holiday videos that I compile from time to time for my family.(hence the extra RAM). Those apps transferred across to Windows 11 without any issues and work just fine. I prefer to use MS2200 for some of the smaller files. (Maybe I should write it off on this PC and abandon it?)

I managed to locate the original installation download on my system (dated 2022), and when I ran it, that went a stage further in the installation process than the version I downloaded today. It came up with the often reported "internet issues" message reported by other users, as opposed to the totally blank error dialogue I saw earlier.

Incidentally, I have also subsequently updated my Acer laptop to Windows 11, and the same MS2200 software that transferred with that upgrade continues to work just fine, That connects through the same home internet set as this PC, and works just fine. The laptop uses the same licensed version of Norton AV, and has the same Firewall settings. (That uses an AMD Ryzen5 45000U Processor with Radeon graphics.)

Hope this helps.
