I've been using photostory for some time but now have hit bugs.

john-c4113 wrote on 5/12/2025, 2:18 AM

My problems have arisen since I performed the suggested update. Now, my voice-overs are not being saved, the timeline doesn't show time and the little stop tab, adjustable for the end of my film is proliferating, and unusable.

I have removed and re-installed the whole programme to no effect.

I'm working on a Windows PC.

@john-c4113

Welcome to the Magix user forums.

First, please don't post the same thing twice and so create a duplicate post! I have hidden the other one.

Second, exactly which version of PS do you now have? Mine (for PS 2025) is 24.0.1.204 and I am not aware of any recent update being offered.

Third, exactly which version and build of Windows are you running?

Fourth, and with apologies for the many questions, please read this pinned post and supply as much of the requested information as you possibly can! The more information we have the more helpful we are likely to be to you!

And finally, please detail the steps taken to produce the errors you are experiencing. I realise this might be difficult to do but again, all information is useful! If the workspace seems to be "missing" features, can you provide (and add to any reply) a screenshot of the whole screen?

Bug in Photostory Deluxe 2025? When starting the project, the effects go softly. But after a while, the whole thing stiffens, use of effects goes more and more slowly. Submitted this to an IT man and there is no doubt: there is a bug in this software. 2 weeks ago also submitted the case to Magix helpcenter, but until this very moment, not a single answer. Is there still a human being in that support service?! What are experiences of other forum members?

emmrecs wrote on 10/14/2025, 4:06 AM

@Carl-Brik

I don't think there is such a bug as you suggest or this forum would have many posts with the same complaint!

Your statement that use of effects goes more and more slowly would suggest that your computer is struggling to keep up with the data throughput that is required to run the program.

So, as a first step, please tell us a lot more about your computer, its software and hardware. This pinned post will show you the level of detail which is very helpful to other users who may wish and be able to help you! Adding it to your signature will make it viewable with any post you create.

Also, what format are the images/videos you are importing to your PhotoStory project? This tutorial will show you how to use the free MediaInfo to provide us with a detailed analysis of any video files you are using.

Before never had this problem with the same PC (and Photostory Deluxe 2024). Even bigger projects.

@Carl-Brik

Thank you for that information; please add it all as your signature!

Your computer is a very similar specification to mine (see my Signature below) and I don't experience this kind of slowdown. What specific effects are you using and does the slowdown occur between image and image, or between image and video or between video and video? Can you provide a MediaInfo analysis of one of your mp4 video files?

Effects: the usual ones: clearness, camera/zoom, motion templates, sharpness, transitions.Slowdown occurs everywhere. What do you understand by "MediaInfo analysis"? Sorry, I am not that great IT guy.....

emmrecs wrote on 10/14/2025, 6:10 AM

@Carl-Brik

What do you understand by "MediaInfo analysis"?

As explained in my first reply to you, please read and follow this tutorial (you'll see the words "This tutorial" are in blue so are a clickable link!)

Once you have the data, simply copy and paste it into your next reply.

With reference to your original question: are you applying more than one effect to any image or video? If so, have you tried removing one of the effects and testing what happens then? Also, it would be very helpful if you were able and willing to provide a set of images and/or videos which always demonstrate this slowdown when specific effects are applied. You would need to post the image(s) and/or video(s) to a file-sharing site, not this forum, along with links to download them and precise, step by step instructions on how to reproduce the problem you see. Fellow-users can then download them and test on their machines whether they see the same problem and, if they do, hopefully suggest solutions to you.

Jeff

EDIT, to add: can you also tell us (or better still show a screenshot) of what is set for you in the program device options settings? With the program open go to File>Settings>Program (shortcut Y) and then the Device options tab. I think for you it should be set to your NVidia GPU.

What are the experiences of other forum members about the Magix technical support? It seems to be not existant. Only sales. Not getting an answer to a question within a delay of nearly 2 weeks is outraging....

emmrecs wrote on 10/14/2025, 8:30 AM

@Carl-Brik

I have hidden one of your recent posts since it is a Duplicate of the one giving links to your download.

Unfortunately, you have uploaded ONLY the PS project file. Such files contain NONE of the source images or videos you are trying to use so we cannot do anything with your uploaded file, sorry. Since I see the project contains some 47 files (videos and images) it would be rather better if you were to create a much shorter project which demonstrates the problem and then upload that project and its source files to WeTransfer or similar site.

I see the mab.to link is also to the project file so it too has now been hidden.

As to your question about Magix Support: I cannot directly comment since I have had no reason to contact support for several months but you do need to be aware that Magix GMBh has recently undergone major restructuring and takeover by a new investor. One of the result of this has been a not inconsiderable reduction in both staff and products manufactured and supported. e.g., all the products formerly part of the Pro Audio stable are now owned, developed and sold by BorisFX.

I solved the problem and the software is now working softly.

That is great to hear, thank you for telling us!

However, for the sake of anyone else reading this thread and experiencing the same or a similar problem, can you tell us how you solved it? Thank you.
