DVD menus

mikelockey wrote on 6/22/2017, 6:54 AM

Following a recent Magix advert I upgraded my MEP (still 17 plus). The DVD menus have changed
but I notice my earlier version still operates. Does anyone know what  the menu extension is,
where they are stored and if I can copy them to my new folder please? I like some of the old
ones which have disappeared.

I should also be receiving a load of specialist software which wasn't included as described. I've used
the help download. These are not there.

Regards to all 😉

I'm unclear what version you had and what version you now have, but here's the general approach:

Your second question is even vaguer!

Hi terrypin
Thanks for the reply. I have two versions of MEP17plus. I don't recognise your folder display on my software.

My second question will have to be directed to Magix -"Upgrade now for £39 and receive over £300 of software".
I only got the standard free downloads which are in the help tag. I upgraded but I don't like it - another learning
curve because they've altered things again as is their wont. 😖

Kind regards

Hi,

Still not quite sure I'm singing from the same hymn sheet ... you have two versions of MEP 17, yes? Not MEP 2017 (alias MEP Premium)? And what was the upgrade you did?

Were you unable to find a \Layout folder like the examples I showed?

Hi

What is the full name of the program and version number as found under Help, About . . .

Please use that fullname when referring to to avoid confusion with earlier version of the program.

MEP 17 Plus DVD layout files are in the folder:

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie_Edit_Pro_17_Plus_Download_Version\DVD\Layout

This is for the download version of MEP 17 Plus - if your program is from a disc or other source the program name above in bold will be different.

This assumes you are running Windows 7 or later.

The ProgramData folder is a hidden folder and you need to set Windows Explorer to show hidden and system folders, select View, Options, Change folder ans search options, View tab and check Show hidden files, folders or drives. OK

You should now be able to see the ProgramData folder and its contents.

Assuming you have upgraded to the current version of MEP ie Movie Edit Pro Plus or Premium (no year designation or version in the name) then the DVD layout folder path is

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Premium\2017\DVD\Layout

Hi

Is that the original MEP 17 Plus or the upgraded, later version, MEP ?

We need the version numbers for both.

Hi John

Thanks for the interest. I'm not going to pursue this. The number I quoted is
the latest version I bought the other day for £39. I've quoted the numbers above
from the help tab. However, it's not important. The "new" version will take some
time to find where everything is so I'll probably just stick with the old which is
very good anyway.

Kind regards
Mike

Hi

. . . . The number I quoted is the latest version I bought the other day for £39. . . .

The number you have quoted is for the old version, Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus released in 2010 as shown below.

The latest version of MEP version number is a 16.x.x.xx series, has an extra tab, Audio, and the Templates tab looks as shown below

Hi John

As I said before I'm not interested in pursuing this. Another learning curve. You're quite right the lower picture is like the one I downloaded. I abandoned it quickly because as you show the templates etc have changed as have the DVD menus and when I burned a disc from a previous mvp it didn't include all the transitions so - wasted DVD & partly wasted my money.😒

You don't need to reply - thanks for your interest. I'll stick with what I know.😊

Kind regards

Mike
