I've found the answer. It looks like the instrument editor crashed in some way. I'll attach a screenshot. To fix it I just opened the MIDI editor then opened the instrument editor. Then I was able to reset it by selecting the instrument type.

@DJCro-G Hi, Nothing is wrong. You cannot use the instrument screen to record - neither the drums nor the keyboard on the instrument display screen. It is for testing and adjusting sounds, not for recording. You could not do this with 2019 either or

Hi there, The term "Instrument Editor" in Music Maker is used for the plug-in interface of a VST/software instrument. So, it would only be relevant to MIDI tracks. You can reach it by right-clicking on a MIDI object and choosing "Instrument Editor"
