More than likely I would say that is what the issue is... I have Music Maker 17 Premium, and it has the MIDI portion of the software. I am not sure maybe there are license issues with the MIDI portion that they cannot offer as a 'Free'

Where did you get this silver edition? I haven't heard of it, and I didn't see it on the MAGIX website. I do have the Music Maker 17 Premium, all the MIDI files work fine with it as-far-as I can determine.
