As to your first question: In Texting, holding down the ALT-key and writing figures with the numeric pad, you will get different characters and symbols. On my PC, I get a whole line by ALT+ 95 (Underscore) This is dependent on your keyboard

Simple answer, you need to reduce the resolution of the playback on your computer. This change affects only what you see as you play the movie in MEP, it does not affect the resolution/quality of the final output, whatever that may be.
