Capturing Live Video From Webcam
How do you activate the webcam function? Is the avchd selection the one for a webcam? When I select that, there is no record option - only a play option. Tried the HDV and DV options and got can't detect device message. I really need this

Hi John, A couple of ideas. Try opening your file using the latest version of Quicktime if it is Quicktime-DV or try opening it in something like Media Player if it is DV-AVI. If you can't play the file, you may need to scan your registry for

Update 6/2/2013 Sony website did not have any drivers for my camera and they said that Windows 8 is compatible with my HDR-HC1 camera, but when I tried to use the HDV option in MAGIX it still would not recognize it :( OK

6/3/2013 Was NOT happey with the results of using MPEG , the quality was really inferior to what I expected . I think i wil go back to using the DV camera feature and just export it to MPEg format.

HDV - High Definition Digital Video - is recorded on the tape as mpeg-2 and not in the DV-AVI format. If you want DV-AVI it will have to be standard defintion as DV-AVI doesn't have a HD resolution setting.
