How do I get the burner to recognize DVD-R discs?
I'm using Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus. When I want to burn a standard definition video, the burner keeps telling me that the DVD-R discs I've inserted are DVD+R discs. How can I fix that problem?

Hi There is not enough information to provide an answer, other than that this message usually appears if you cancel the process or hit the Esc key.  If this is a laptop then accidental touching or brushing a finger or hand over the touchpad may

    RE: Burning to DVD
Hi The DVD standard for resolution is 720 x 576 (PAL) or 720 x 480 (NTSC). For hi resolution ie 1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080 then you will have to burn a Blu-Ray disc - this does assume you have a BD burner and BD Player. HTH John

Yes the VOB files. I'm wondering if it's something to do with where I save these files? I browse to a second HD and save them there. Video Pro X creates these files fine but goes wrong after that. i have rerendered these files and it does exactly

Hi . . . It asks if you want to use existing files so I click on 'yes'. . . . In the situation you have described, at that point I would click Re-encode all - I never let MEP or VPX re-use the existing files. I know it takes longer, however

RE: Problems Burning in Movie edit pro
OK.  Thank you for this additional info. I see no reason why the original wmv files should not work in MEP but given their somewhat "unusual" provenance nothing is guaranteed!  However, I presume these files do play normally in MEP? If so,

RE: playback prohibited by area limitations
Hi, If you burn a DVD as PAL most NTSC players will not allow it to be played.  You should change both the advanced menu in the burner and also go to "File" "Settings" "Program" on the "Audio/Video" tab make sure NTSC is marked then click "OK"

Argh... >> Ahhh... You're mixing fish and fowl so to speak -- projects and exports are two different beasts, and DVDs with menus are another thing altogether. First a .mvp project can be thought of as set of instructions like what parts

Thanks John.  I turned off both Smart Rendering & Calculate Video Effects on GPU and had no problem encoding a Bluray.  I'm not sure I needed to turn off both but was taking no chances. I was also able to encode a Dual Layer Size DVD (6GB)

RE: Magix MovEdPro (17) - is it possible to save a completed disc movie (DVD or AVCHD or BD) to the PC harddrive as a folder (VIDEO_TS or BDMV) instead of directly to disc media?
John, I've managed to use the work-around by keeping the DVD-R tray empty. It creates the BDMV folder for AVCHD/BD, and the .VOB and .IFO files (without the VIDEO_TS folder) in the Disc Image location so that's fine. After rendering it requests a

Thanks, but I don't have that "Disc Image" option show up in my pull-down menu under Burner: I'm using Version 17 (2010) of the program. I checked the documentation (PDF manual) and it makes no mention of a "burn to disc image file" function.
