RE: captured video very poor quality while playback on TV is perfect
@CubeAce @CubeAce When you record the video you must get the interleaving correct at the recording stage or it will never show correctly as the interleave is 'baked' into the recording and altering the field order after in playback will only make

RE: VHS capture quality is very poor
@cmclernon Regarding files sizes for digital capture of the VHS analog signal. To my mind I would want to use a non lossy codec that would give each individual pixel when digitized it's own set of values and not be grouped with its nearest neighbors

RE: VHS capture quality is very poor
@CubeAce Is it possible that because in theory, a file could be used for upload to a file sharing site at a higher quality than possible for normal DVD / Blu-ray playback that is why Magix has included export to MP4? I don't think so. The only

@cmclernon The dreaded VHS capture. 😂 A few comments: - The colour flicker, interference and wavy edges at the top are classic symptoms of a lack of some sort of Time Base Correction. TBCs steady the video signal with a new timebase and will fix

@cmclernon Great stuff. MXV is not such a bad option; I think I mentioned it seems to be a lossless-type of format which will give you better quality for editing than MPEG 2. The only downside with MXV is that it cannot be read by external programs,

The default setting for GOP length in VirtualDub is 250 frames, at 30 fps that theoretically means there is one I frame very 8.33 seconds. Persoanally I use Handbrake to convert videos when necessary, it produces correctly formatted h.264/h.265

@fergie Hi. I notice the drone is capturing the file in 10 bit. Are you using the DJI 'D' CineLike Profile? If so you may need to do some additional contrast and colour grading to it or it may look rather flat colour wise. Ray.

@AAProds Hi Alwyn . . . . I don't know why Magix persists with providing the field order option for export.. . . . The most likely answer is because not all MPEG 2 are BFF, My first Sony camera was TFF - recorded direct to hard drive. . . . .
