RE: Extracting/Converting VOB's For Movie Time Line
@CarpentersMate Fortunately I've lucked out many times as in this example the video is obviously a high quality copy and not 'reference media' http://www.ww2survivorstories.com/342-USAF-19152WS.mp4 And here's an example of lower quality

RE: Extracting/Converting VOB's For Movie Time Line
Hello again Alwyn and thank you ... "it probably has come from another format such as DV, AVI or MP4, so it could be considered to be a 2nd gen video" In my particular unique situation, (copying media at NARA), unfortunately the source of the DVD

RE: Extracting/Converting VOB's For Movie Time Line
@CarpentersMate one reason to create MPEGs from a source VOB, is merely a suggestion to 'categorize' or divide/separate where too many VOB's could become confusing or too large? Correct?  Correct. one should 'edit' straight off the original VOB, as

Hello again friends nice to see you all again ... I'd like to clarify what Alwyn mentioned: "For ease of file management" So I'm to understand one reason to create MPEGs from a source VOB, is merely a suggestion to 'categorize' or divide/separate

RE: Extracting/Converting VOB's For Movie Time Line
@CarpentersMate Mike, converting them to AVIs will incur a generation loss, albeit probably small. Nevertheless, it is to be avoided if possible. MEP's handling of VOBs is arcane: what you do is drag the first VOB of the movie ie VTS_01_1.VOB onto

Yes I am also seeing this issue with the latest version MEP Working with DV-AVI Files. To be fair though the issue was somewhat there in the older version of both MEP and VPX. though not as bad. In particular when I select section > Free

@johnebaker Hi John. AFAIK the only formats available for recording ... MXV. Are you sure about MXV? I can't find any option to select anything other than AVI or MPEG, in either MEP or VPX. @Philippe-Smetryns As John indicates, I do use Firewire for

@Philippe-Smetryns No, you can't import that footage as mp4, sorry! The default for DV Recording is, as you say, AVI or, more correctly, DV-AVI. There is a small box on the screen which John shows, immediately below the "DV Camera" box, labelled

    RE: MPEG-4 activation Error
If VPX can't open a file, one would expect it to throw up a "file cannot be read" message, or display black video. It shouldn't be giving an activation message. I'd be contacting Support. By the way, that MPEG 4 codec link isn't working here.
