RE: MEP 2016 Plus - Successful VOB - But No Sound
Hi Alwyn - Thanks sooo much for the PDF! BTW I've been using your recommended MPEG2's for the VOB extraction/conversion and they're working out fine thanks... Only one thing regarding use of the wondershare MPEG2's in FC on the Mac, they all require

RE: MEP 2016 Plus - Successful VOB - But No Sound
@CarpentersMate Hi Mike . . . . do later versions of MEP export audio properly with regard to MP2 or VOB? . . . . That depends on what you mean by 'export audio properly'.this is too generic. To be clear - MEP 2022 and VPX13 will import audio in AC3

RE: MEP 2016 Plus - Successful VOB - But No Sound
Thanks all ... 😉 And I'm sure you'd agree: In the end for me, (it all boils down to) trying to keep the aspect ratio constant or as close to 4:3 as possible so as to avoid stretching/pulling/dragging out that canvas window.... Not Good (as I've

RE: MEP 2016 Plus - Successful VOB - But No Sound
@CarpentersMate Yes Mike, that's it. Sorry, my tute is taking longer than I expected. Have a crack anyway. Open the first VOB (that's VTS_01_1.VOB) and Avidemux will offer to open the rest as well. The total movie time will be shown at the

RE: MEP 2016 Plus - Successful VOB - But No Sound
Hello Alwyn Hello Ray Hello John Thanks for all your feedback!! ... (very sorry for the late replies) 😳 It would be great if MEP could render the audio properly with an MP2 export. *As Alwyn pointed out it would be a good file to archive as well,

RE: MEP 2016 Plus - Successful VOB - But No Sound
@CarpentersMate Mike, you should archive your DVDs in MPEG 2 format, with MP2 audio. Converting the DVD (or more accurately, the VOBs that make up the DVD) to MPEG 2 will result in one MPEG 2 file. I've installed the trial of Wondershare. The

RE: MEP 2016 Plus - Successful VOB - But No Sound
Hello again John & Alwyn Although I discovered the MP2 (sound conversion) still indicates 'A3', a wondershare VOB extraction will successfully play the audio if using MEP 2016 Plus for editing purposes ... Thanks Mike

RE: MEP 2016 Plus - Successful VOB - But No Sound
Yes John: "if the audio is encoded as AC3 that is the issue" As Alwyn pointed out: "convert the audio to MP2 and smart-render the video" John stated: "The Download package popup will show every time you load a video clip where the audio is encoded

RE: MEP 2016 Plus - Successful VOB - But No Sound
Hello Alwyn - Hello John - Nice to see you guys again Just to clarify: For purposes of converting and 'archiving' Standard Def. DVD media for 'later editing'; after navigating MEP to the Disc, should I allow MEP to render the entire movie? Will that

RE: MEP 2016 Plus - Successful VOB - But No Sound
@CarpentersMate @johnebaker If AC3 is the issue, I've done a test convert of a VOB set (aka complete DVD movie) with Avidemux to convert the audio to MP2 and smart-render the video and it works well, and is easy too.

RE: MEP 2016 Plus - Successful VOB - But No Sound
@CarpentersMate Mike, could you post the Mediainfo readout for one of the VOBs you're using so we can see the properties of the audio. There's a tute on how to get the Mediainfo readout here. Also, I'd save the project, then close and restart MEP.

MEP 2016 Plus - Successful VOB - But No Sound
Hi Gang MEP 2016 Plus successfully extracted a single movie from a DVD (no menus). I was prompted to download an 'expansion package' to complete the audio process and did so .... However there is No Audio and (of course) no option to display Wav

RE: Extracting/Converting VOB's For Movie Time Line
@CarpentersMate Back to VOB's and clarification, (no matter which application), you mentioned: "drag the first VOB of the movie ie VTS_01_1.VOB onto the timeline and MEP will automatically add the remaining VOBs for that movie" Yes? As I wrote, Yes.

@CarpentersMate Fortunately I've lucked out many times as in this example the video is obviously a high quality copy and not 'reference media' http://www.ww2survivorstories.com/342-USAF-19152WS.mp4 And here's an example of lower quality

@CarpentersMate one reason to create MPEGs from a source VOB, is merely a suggestion to 'categorize' or divide/separate where too many VOB's could become confusing or too large? Correct? Correct. one should 'edit' straight off the original VOB, as

@CarpentersMate Greetings, I don't have any problem loading VOBs into 2022 but when the older versions were new (such as your 2016) to make the VOBs more usable i simply changed the VOB extension to MPG. I said it was simple. I appreciate that VOBs

RE: Extracting/Converting VOB's For Movie Time Line
@CarpentersMate Mike, converting them to AVIs will incur a generation loss, albeit probably small. Nevertheless, it is to be avoided if possible. MEP's handling of VOBs is arcane: what you do is drag the first VOB of the movie ie VTS_01_1.VOB onto

Extracting/Converting VOB's For Movie Time Line
