All too true. I have converted all family camcorder and movie conversions (50s -90s) to mpeg 2 and stored them both on DVD and 3 external hard drives. Hoping I'm bomb proof! I'm stubborn and tried to run movie edit 14 in compatibility mode today.

I am also getting unwanted clip rotation from clips from a Panasonic camcorder (mts format). Some are 90 degrees and others 180 degrees. Video clips and photos from mobile phones are OK. This happens without warning and not all the clips suffer.
