RE: Capturing Mini DV: Is it possible to adjust the output file type ?
Additional Data: There's an incorrect codec/export setting regarding the MPEG-2? It won't open on the Mac. Maybe we can fix that? Beginning work in 2006, (as suspected) ALL the media was captured using the capture settings as illustrated in the

RE: Capturing Mini DV: Is it possible to adjust the output file type ?
@CarpentersMate Mike, Re QT, yes, we're both right. The Quicktime codec (which MEP 2013 has) is an MPEG 4-type codec and is placed in the MOV container (file extension). The later MEPs do not have that option, although we can export to an Apple

RE: Capturing Mini DV: Is it possible to adjust the output file type ?
@CarpentersMate Mike, Re the linked post, I wanted it to reiterate the point of capturing in DV-AVI, then export to MPEG 2 or 4 for distribution. I don't suggest using Movie Maker. Re your QT message with your MPEG 2 file, I did find this old post

RE: Lagarith Lossless Codec
@jak.willis Video compression is a compromise with size. The more compressed a video is, the more data has been "thrown away" as well as more complex encoding with various types of frames, as Cubeace has described). LAGS is one of the so-called

@jak.willis @CubeAce @me_again It will be because the TV and Bluray can't decode the LAGS codec. I haven't been able to play any type of AVIs on my LG Smart TV or WDTV media player, but there could be a media player out there that does. Windows

Lagarith Lossless Codec
Hello, I decided to do some experimenting with the Lagarith lossless codec. In MEP, I used an MPEG-2 720x576 video, and exported to AVI using the Lagarith codec. The resulting file plays fine in Windows Media Player, but, for some reason, when I put

RE: Uncompressed AVI files give very large data rate
@jak.willis @CubeAce as the codec wouldn't be supported. What codec? If it's uncompressed then it doesn't use a codec, does it? That's why I was asking because I used to assume that if you chose to export a project as uncompressed AVI, that the

RE: Uncompressed AVI files give very large data rate
@jak.willis @CubeAce I wouldn't be so sure about the data rate being too high. Uncompressed video does not need decoding. That is why editing it in say MEP is so easy. The program does not have to do any work to decode it, unlike an MP4, where MEP

RE: Uncompressed AVI files give very large data rate
@jak.willis Basically the data rate is too huge for the TVs processor to keep up with, even if it could read an AVI encoded file. Or the usb flash drive is not fast enough which could be another reason. Last but not least, a lot of digital TVs only

RE: Uncompressed AVI files give very large data rate
@jak.willis Correct. There is neither no gain or loss. Any 'lossy' compression codec means exactly that. Some information is irrecoverably lost. Even if you have a camera that records raw, if the camera is set up wrong and either over exposes or

RE: BIT RATE QUESTION
@VideoPro @CubeAce A couple of points, if I may: The MP42 should be no problem for MEP, and it seems to be opening the file OK (because you can get to the Export screen). I've just downloaded a couple of MP42s (with AVI extension) and the video

RE: ONE video isn't rendering
@MariaEduarda If it's urgent, try exporting to AVI. In Advanced, use the Microsoft Video 1 codec. It renders at 900mb per minute but 3min will be OK. After it's (hopefully) exported, bring that AVI back into MEP and then export as your MP4.

RE: Exporting Media Setting
@me_again @browj2 Hi Andy. You used to get options using the main concept codec but I don't think it exists in MEP 2022. AVI, MPEG Video, and WMV, still have various options but MP4 and HEVC as far as I'm aware have never had options within MEP.

@Daniel-Buse https://www.free-codecs.com/cinepak_codec_download.htm Install the 64-bit version for Windows 7. Do a virus scan on it before installing. I have just opened it with no issues. That version (1.10.0.11) is the version I have installed

RE: .avi import into Movie Edit Pro Premium
Changing the codec worked and allows .avi files to be inserted by selecting the mpeg codec in settings. When outputting the movie the program errored. Changing back to default settings cured this.

RE: .avi import into Movie Edit Pro Premium
@Don-Scott9909 Don, MEP can open AVIs, but if they are not internally supported, you'll need to have the video codec for the AVI installed on your computer. Could you please install Mediainfo and open your AVI in it. On the View menu, choose the
