If the 'pop' noise is being generated by editing, enable: Options> Snapping> Zero crossings.Both Sound Forge 'Pro' and 'Audio Studio' have the non-destructive 'project' file option and the 'Event' mode.

[Solved] Strange noises

So I was finally successful in getting Sound Forge v.16 loaded. Now I have another related problem. The little "bing" sound I get from my computer when I get new mail or a pop up notification, now is preceded by 1 or 2 seconds of loud static.
