1080P to 2K 'upscaling'?

Hi friends,
just been trying to find an answer to the following :

Q) Would upscaling 1080P footage to 2K for Bluray boost any picture quality difference?

Just thought it would be cool to do if it meant a slight improvement over an already great HD presentation,
or would it be just a case like increasing a bit rate of an original file which would show no difference?

Cheers!

Hi

Upscaling to 2k - and I presume you mean the DCI 2k native definition ( 2048 * 1080) - is not going to gain you any improvement in quality.

Increasing the bitrate to the maximum possible to fit on disc will be much better - the higher bitrate means the definition is better.
