2014 - Unwanted behaviour when displaying 5.1 audio tracks

Scenestealer wrote on 11/28/2013, 4:15 PM

Hi

Can others test this behaviour please with some 5.1 sound AVCHD camcorder footage in MEP2014.

With more than one clips overlapping (ie crossfaded etc.) in the timeline, If you "Select all" and Rt.click on the Audio   > "Display Sound Channels", then in previous versions of MEP it displays the other 2 stereo channels on tracks 3 and 4 (if those tracks are clear), but in 2014 any any clip overlapping shunts down onto another lower track so that the arranger ends up looking like a staircase with the lowest step at the start and the last clips 3 sound tracks in the correct position. With my movie with multiple faded clips on track 1&2 I ended up with my faded in title and first clips center and rear audio tracks down on track 66 and 67 . Not cool at all!

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter

Same here - definitely a bug.

Will you report it?

John

Not so here. Don't know if I'm setting things up with the proper overlaps, but the extracted sound channels are going to tracks 3 & 4 as usual and anything already there got moved down to tracks 5 and beyond. With a couple of 5.1 clips the select all still put the extra sound tracks on the two right below the original wherever it was.

Hi Carl

"Extract sound channels" is correct - "Display sound channels" causes the problem. I do not usually Extract the channels because it creates a new WAV file for each track and as I do not want to individually edit the tracks I use Dislpay which activates the 6 channel playback on my PC speakers without creating more files.

Could you try a test using the "Display" option please.

Thanks

Peter

Hi All

This does not appear to be fixed in the latest patch despite support acknowledging it back in December 2013.

Can anyone else test with the new patch installed please.

Thanks

Peter

Peter,

Sorry I missed your question back from 23-12-02! I'm on 13.0.2.8 and get my sound channels on tracks 2,3 & 4 with both "Extract sound channels" and "Display sound channels". Only difference is that display shows three waveforms identical to what's seen when audio and video are on separate tracks while extract shows, as expected, the new wave files.

Regards,

Carl

Hi Carl

Thanks for checking again. That is very odd that you do not experience the problem when "Displaying" the tracks as John Baker and Ralf at Magix were able to replicate the stair step effect with the 13.0.2.8 version.

I wonder what you have that is different. What material did you use? I was using AVCHD 1080 50p .MTS files from a Panasonic SD900 camcorder.
