Yes, avi works ok....

But Avi don't have alpha channel... CFX does... (And chroma keying won't do a perfect job)

Agreed however it is not necessary to use an AVI file exported from Xara 3D if you use it like this?

Hi,

I am lost. Your question "is 3D Maker supposed to be compatible with Video Pro x?" Yes it is. 3D Maker uses X3D files. The only files that will open 3D Maker are those under Title Templates - 3D Animation Basic, 3D Static Basic and 3D Decorative Basic.

What does that have to do with CFX files?

What are you trying to do?

Hi..

I'm trying tu open my stand alone "Magix 3D Maker 7" that I bought 2 year ago..... make som3 3d titles... then export them to VPX

browj2 wrote on 5/23/2019, 3:54 PM

@SullyPanda76us

It's actually Xara 3D Maker 7, even though it says Magix 3D Maker.

You can only import X3D files, not CFX files.

The easiest way is to open a 3D title from within VPX and modify it completely. If you want to keep it for future projects, do a Save As before closing the interface, give the folder location and filename that you want. Then close the interface and your 3D title will be on the timeline. If you want to modify one of your files, open any 3D model, then Open yours in the interface. When done (Save as if you want to keep an original), close and it will be on the timeline.

Did you watch my tutorial on 3D Maker?

Hi

. . . . You can only import X3D files, not CFX files. . . . .

According to the Help when you want to create an animated title with a transparent background you export as CFX file format.

. . . . The transparent titles consist of the .cfx file and the according AVI file which contains the animation movie, the .cfx file contains the the background transparency information . . . . In the MAGIX slide show or video editing programs, the .cfx files has to be loaded via the Media Pool . . . .

After some testing, AFAICS, when saving the CFX, the save file location, no matter what file location you specify in 3D Maker, the corresponding AVI is always in

CORRECTION: C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Xara\Xara3D7\AVI_CFX - for the standalone program

or

c:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Xara\MAGIX 3D Maker embeded\AVI_CFX - for the embedded 3D Maker

The AVI file can be moved to the same folder as the CFX.

To use the CFX file the AVI file is imported into the project timeline, the CFX dragged on to the AVI file on the timeline.

AFAICS there is no way to make 3D Maker put the AVI file in the same user specified location.

@johnebaker

I should have been more precise. You can only import X3D files into 3D Maker, not CFX files.

As you indicate, CFX is for something else.

I'm lost as to what the OP wants.

@SullyPanda76us

Can you please explain in more detail what you are doing? If you just want the 3D Maker animated title, then you can do as I have shown. Another alternative - VPX accepts X3D files directly on the timeline, so you can drag and drop or import a X3D file, then double-click on it to open it in 3D Maker to change it. I keep my template X3D files under my documents where I can access them quickly to import one onto the timeline.

By default, 3D Maker has transparency unless you make a background in it.

There is no need to export to AVI from 3D Maker, unless you want to do something else with it.

To simplify - You do not need to open the program you bought as it is embedded in VPX (not in MEP) so just add a 3D Template from the Media Pool in VPX, double click it in the timeline to open 3D maker, modify it, then close the window to save back to the timeline.
