A serious program error

matti-heikkil wrote on 11/5/2018, 10:35 AM

When opening the Magix Edit Pro Plus 2016 (updated in October 2018) there appears an error log saying: "when running the program last there appeared a problem.." ...send the error log... show the log...return the project..

There also appeared a notice: "There happened a serious program error"

The only alternative with this is "closing the program", the others (continue the program and save the chosen movies) block up the program and result in closing the computer forcedly.

So, the result is that I cant open the program without the notice about serious program error and the only alternative is closing the program.

How can I get rid of the error notice and continue working?

My configuration: HP Pavillon 500-204 eo /Windows 10 Home/ 64 bits.

If this happened imediately after the update it is possible the program corrupted on the install.

Sometimes leaving antivirus software on when uploading an update from the internet can cause these types of problems. I'm not saying it is the problem, just a possibility.

I would think about doing a clean reinstall of the program if this is the case.

Looking at the specs of your PC suggests it meets the recomended minimum requirements but I can't be sure as the graphics side of things is not mentioned in detail other than it's a Radeon R7. I also don't know things like are you running extra hard drives or how much space is there left on your C: drive.

I would think about doing a clean reinstall of the program if this is the case.

If you do decide to go down the uninstall/reinstall route please read this page very carefully and follow fully all its guidance. For an uninstall/reinstall to be truly effective you must ensure that everything connected with the previous install is removed; a "standard" (Windows) uninstall generally fails to achieve this.

Thank you for your response.

I think I ´m going to uninstall and reinstall the MEP+. Instead of the newest version including the additional programmes (Check & Tuning, Connect, Speed burnR and Cloud Import) in my files there is also previously loaded "Content and Soundpools", which I presume must also be uninstalled?

By the way, I didn´t succeed to open the link "this tutorial".

My apologies!  That link was, indeed, wrong! It's corrected now and can be accessed via this page.

"Content and Soundpools" are features of Music Maker, especially the latter one, so have you previously had MM also installed on your computer? If you do or did have MM then removing Content and Soundpools will also remove a vital part of MM.

BTW, speaking entirely personally, I would NOT install "Check and Tuning" (you do have the option when installing MEP to not install that particular add-on).

Hi,

Thank you for your help up to this point, but

I´m still struggling with the serious program error. I have made the uninstall/install process twice in accordance with your advice trying to follow the orders very carefully (deleting the program files including the hidden ones, checking Windows by sfc /scannow, restarting the computer and so on).

Also the reinstalling seems to go through succesfully. But in spite of that when opening the program there appears the serious program error message and the only way to get rid of it is closing the program.

However, it seems to me that the installed program works there "behind" properly.

If it may help you I attach the error message and the beginning about the error log, which I have posted to Support as a whole.

Regards

Matti
