A video file will not load on the timeline.

I usually drag and drop my files from my folder(s) to edit videos, but this time, when I dragged and dropped like usual, this message displayed:

Error 0x1000: no streams found during init

I will however say that I converted the file from a .webm file to a .mp4 file (by replacing .webm on the end with .mp4), and that might have something to do with this problem, although I would still appreciate the answer very much.

Thank you for your time.

Hi

We need more information:

  1. Computer specification - processor make/model, graphics card or chipset, RAM,  hard drive configuration, sizes and free space?
  2. Windows version and is it up to date?
  3. Software full name and version number - as found under Help, About . . .
  4. What did you use to convert the WebM file?

Use MediaInfo to analyse the mp4 video file and post the results from the Text view.

Also please read this post before replying and add any other information you think may be relevant.

@johnebaker

  • Processor: AMD A8-6410 APU
  • AMD Radeon R5 Graphics (4 CPUs), ~2.0GHz
  • 4.00 GB RAM
  • (3.45 GB Usable)
  • Standard CD-ROM drives, Driver Version 10.0.15063.0 I apologize, but this was the most information available for hard drive configuration. If I misunderstood, please inform me.
  • Free Space: (776 GB)
  • Capacity: (907 GB)

2. Windows 10, 64-bit. Up to date.

3. MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 2015

Version 14.0.0.172 (UDPP3)

4. There is text at the end of a file indicating what file it is. I simply changed the text from .webm to .mp4.

This resulted in the message previously mentioned displaying:

If you change a file name extension the file may become unusable.

Are you sure you want to change it?

The video still plays normally by itself though.

-Note: Media Info still identifies it as a .webm file

Thank you.

Hi

. . . . I simply changed the text from .webm to .mp4 . . . . Media Info still identifies it as a .webm file . . .

It will, changing the file extension .webm to .mp4 does not convert the file from one format to another - you have to use a video converter, MEP does not support webm format files for import or export.

@johnebaker

I will try this. I just assumed it was a .mp4 file because it said so in the video's properties.

I appreciate your help.

Hi

I do not recognise that format of properties dialog, is it from Windows Explorer or what?

@johnebaker No, I just went to the videos' properties and took a screenshot. I had to zoom it in so you could tell what it said.

Hi

@W-S-A

. . . . I just went to the videos' properties . . . .

Aha, I now see that you have heavily cropped the image, here is what I get for WebM files

It looks like you also have a Windows file association incorrectly set - Movies and TV does not support WebM, see here.
