Activation of the MPEG2 codec in MEP 2016

Dennis-Lachance wrote on 6/7/2020, 1:50 PM

I just bought a new unopened boxed copy of Movie Edit Pro Plus 2016 from an eBay retailer and installed it on my Dell laptop running Windows 10. After the s/n activation and registration was completed I tried to activate the MPEG2 codec from within the program. But it rejects the attempt with this message:

"The serial number has already been registered to another email address. Please contact Magix support. Error code: -24"

However, this is a brand-new installation of the app, from a Magix DVD-ROM inside an unopened sealed box. The s/n was registered without any issues when the app was launched. I've got earlier editions of MEP and Video Deluxe installed on other desktop PCs.
It's possible there's confusion in my Magix user account with 2 different emails I've registered as a customer, one is with MS Outlook (Hotmail) and the other is with Google (Gmail). But I don't know how to change the registered ID within the program to access the activation.

Has anyone else encountered this problem when trying to activate the add-on codecs?

@Dennis-Lachance

Hi

You can change your email address in the Magix Service Centre here.

Check with both accounts to see which one you registered the software with - it will be under My Products.

. . . . Has anyone else encountered this problem when trying to activate the add-on codecs? . . . . a new unopened boxed copy of Movie Edit Pro Plus 2016 from an eBay retailer . . .

Not with codecs however there have been a few users having activation issues with software purchased through EBay, for the same reason.

@Dennis-Lachance

I don't have any other solution to offer you but did you notice your email address is visible in your second screenshot? I would strongly urge you to remove the image or obscure your address!

Hi Jeff. I did what you suggested by deleting the entire post. I wasn't able to just remove that one uploaded image alone with Edit. Thanks.

@Dennis-Lachance

When you clicked to Edit your previous post you should have been able to select the "unwanted" image and hit the Delete key to remove it.
