Add date as title dialogue

jeffjn wrote on 11/15/2013, 9:26 AM

I'm curious to know what the last function in the titler drop-down menu is supposed to do. It seems to offere the same functionality as the context menu option to Fade in date as title, but with more options. Only thing is, I can't select any files in the upper dropdown box.

I've tried adding DV-AVI files and photos with picture information to the project, but nothing ever becomes available

Hi jeffin

How are you getting to . . . . what the last function in the titler drop-down menu. . . . ?

It would also help others if you specify whcih version of MEP or VPX you are using. Thanks

John

Thanks John

The function is in MEP 2013 and MEP 2014 (I've got the Premium version) as well as VP X5.

I've attached a screenshot of how I reached the feature. I still can't get it to do anything because I can't get a filename in the drop-down box labelled "1 Select file"

Hi Jeff,

How exactly are you getting to the state shown in your screenshot, which so far I haven't reproduced.

Terry - the menu appears when I click on the down arrowhead in the top right corner of the title editor. All the other functions make sense.

Yes, there is a contect menu option to "fade date in as title" for any clip whcih does work, and this seems it might be a subset of what "Insert date info..." might be attempting to do

It looks like it might be a feature that usd to be correctly impemented in earlier versions?

So it's a bug that's lasted 5 versions so far. Will you report it, perhaps by just sending a link to this thread?

And yes, it's clearly superseded by the 'Add time code' featute. That too is flawed as discussed in the thread

Thanks Terry - Yes, I'll report it. There may be something I'm missing, but it seems likely it's a module that could be removed.

(yes the other thread does seem to show that only certain files work. I can get my DV files to behave, but that's it)

Propmp response form support, They are passing this on as they agree it's either a bit of left over code or doesn't work correctly. I'd be happy if they just removed it if it causes confusion.

Thanks Jeff. Yes, I agree, but I hope that it also spotlights the flaws in the 'Add timecode' feature.
