Hi,

If you have it on your version of MEP, try the Echo feature.

Video Effects > Distortion > Echo

Hi

There is no effect that can do this available in MEP MX.

However it may be possible to simulate what you want, without using additional software, depending on:

  1. whether the camera was static or tracking the dancer

  2. if the dancers motion is linear across the screen

  3. the background against which the dancer is moving is simple

If possible can you upload a short clip of the video to give us an idea of what the 'scene' is like.

I have the Echo filter, but even at max, the effect is too subtle for what I want.

It is a static camera, motion is mostly at the centre of the screen, it has a garden as a background so it's quite busy.

By Googling I found a way to do something close. Add a couple of half transparent copies on top, each offset by a bit. It has the ghosted trails, but even the main movement is ghosted. Is there a way to have a solid main movement with a ghosted trail? Here is a test done my kitchen

The actual movement, ghosted movements, and the effect I want using Photoshop on the stills, Darken layer option

You can do with VDL, just export 2 frames from your video corresponding to motion you want to create, import the 2 frame picture on a video track and use transparency around 20% and time about 2 seconds. Naturally using keyframes you can add more effet on transparency.

Hi tchai,

In the case of your example try using a suitable image editor (i.e. with layers functionality) to make a transparent PNG of your 'main movement', and place that appropriately in a low-numbered track.
