Adding extra audio keyframes on audio (MP3) file on timeline

niksa.svilicic wrote on 5/18/2015, 3:46 PM

I have MP3 audio file inserted in timeline.

Can you pls tell me how can I add few more audio keyframe points (there are 2 by default, but I need much more to add to control my audio file more precsely !!!!)

I tried everything and I am out of ideas ...

Once again: How to add more "points" or "add keyframes points" in order to manipulate with audio file more precisely ????

Thanks for reply!!

Hi

Rt.click the audio track and select "Volume Curve" - a green line appears at the top of the audio clip.

From the PDF manual > Editing Volume Curves:-

You can use volume curves to easily edit the audio track of an object as you wish.
1. In a project, select an object, whose volume you would like to adjust.
2. Open the volume curve by going to "Effects" > "Audio object effects" > "Volume
curve".
You will now see an additional line in the audio track, the volume curve.
3. When you touch this line with your mouse cursor, the cursor is transformed from a
hand symbol to an arrow. Now if you click on the line, you will create a point
(keyframe), which you can grab with the mouse cursor and drag to a lower position.
This lowers the volume of the overall object.

Read the rest of the section under Audio Editing in the PDF manual (or Help) for more options.

Hi

Select the audio track, then either right click it with the mouse and from the popup menu select Volume Curves or hold down the  Ctrl and Shift keys and press V on the keyboard, to add a volume curve.

The following the instructions in the manual for Volume Curves.

Maybe I am stupid, but I did everything you've said and nothing happened ...

So:

I Highlited my mp3 file (in timeline)  to yellow color, ok ...

I right clicked and marked "volume curve"

But I still don't know how to place new points (keyframes) on my mp3 file in timeline ...

I expected that I have to click on wave line of my MP3 file (already there are 2 points - not enough) - but nothing happened ...

Sorry for being dumb ... Any help ?

Hi

. . . . Maybe I am stupid, . . .

I do not think so - just learning your way around the software.

. . . . But I still don't know how to place new points (keyframes) on my mp3 file in timeline . . . .

SS has given you the instructions below on how to use the volume curve,  ie -

When you touch this line with your mouse cursor, the cursor is transformed from a
hand symbol to an arrow. Now if you click on the line, you will create a point
(keyframe), which you can grab with the mouse cursor and drag to a lower position.

Note you will require to place at least 4 points to lower a section of the audio as shown below

To help you with this it is a good idea to expand the height of the tracks by clicking the + sign at the right side of the timeline pane - see below to zoom in, if necessarry also use the timeline zoom buttons (+ and -) at bottom of image (unmarked) to expand the audio.

Use the - sign buttons to reduce the track height and or width again when done.

Further to what John EB and Ss indicated, what exactly are you trying to do, modify the volume or modify some other effect over time? If you are trying to modify some other effect, which one?

Also, you indicated that you did not find "Audio object effects." This is under the Effects button at the top left of the screen.

If you are wondering about the green line in the timeline, it is an automation curve for the track, not the object. The magenta line is a curve for AUX 1 which is linked to effects under FX1 in the Mixer.
