I have Magix movie edit pro plus 2016. Some favorite image objects I had on my 2013 version of this program are not included in the 2016 program. Is there a way to purchase or download additional image objects for my 2016 version?
You should be able to copy them across to the same locations in 2016.
Note carefully what you do and make a backup in case you have to do it again for a new version or a reinstall. If you look at the ini files you will likely see that the information is there, but the files are missing.
Thank you for your response. I can't find a way to copy and paste image objects. Could you elaborate? Also, what are ini files and what file paths etc are needed to access ini files? Thanks very much.
John is referring to the files that MEP installed on your PC. Their locations will vary depending on your OS (at least between XP and recent versions). You haven't told us, but I'll assume the latter.
Here's an illustration of the effects I have under Design Elements > Image objects > Deco on my old XP PC in MEP 2013 and on my new Win 10 PC in MEP 2016 respectively:
Subject to my earlier assumption about your using a modern OS, you should find all of the the 2013 objects here: C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2013 Premium\OverlayFX\
So you need to copy them and, noting John's advice about backups, paste into C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2016 Premium\OverlayFX\
They should then be accessible in MEP 2016, but if not come back for more help. Ideally from a user with both MEP 2013 and MEP 2016 on the same PC. I'm becoming increasingly reluctant to fire up my old PC as I did just now!
BTW, if you're one of the rare breed that hung onto XP (as I did for 15 years) then your files should be here:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2013 Premium\OverlayFX
Jet-lagged still and anti-malaria pills are playing havoc with the system. I'm hoping to have a better sleep tonight - no alarm for tomorrow morning.
@gsmith,
Did you succeed in copying and getting the old effects to work?
You will see ini files in the folders. Open the En version and take a look, but don't change anything. It help understand how Magix puts these together.
