How can i permanantly attatch project and chapter markers to an object so that they remain in the correct position after inserting another object in front of the first one?
Thanks Terry. I find that very strange. I have a project with many chapters and this means i cannot rearrange anything without starting all over again. I have another editing program on my computer which allows you to lock the flags for the sole purpose of rearranging.
In MEP the markers are connected to the object and move with it when you drag the objects on the timeline.
However If you are using multi track ripple setting for the mouse and adding objects without first creating the space for them then the chapter markers do not move.
The difficulty or otherwise that you'll face will obviously depend on the complexity of your project and the degree of change you want to make. Here's a relatively simple example:
John and Terry. Thankyou for your replies. I have tried putting your instructions into practice, but get strange results. I have loaded an old project consisting of two chapters. Chapter one is on tracks 1 & 2 (video and sound), and chapter two likewise on tracks 3 & 4.
I have placed both a project markerand chapter marker at the beginning and named them. I have also put a chapter marker at the beginning of the second chapter, which is directly below the first chapter, without a gap and not overlapping.
Now, using the mouse set on all tracks I can move both chapters to the right and it takes the second chapter marker with it, but leaves the markers at zero position where they are.
Then, if I try moving chapter two on its own, using the same mouse setting, that also leaves the chapter marker behind, but moves a fictitious one I placed halfway down the chapter.
So I moved the second chapter 5 seconds to the right, added another chapter marker, and that stays where it is.
I'm having a hard job visualising what your project looks like. How about a screenshot or two?
And why have you placed the chapters on separate pairs of tracks? As you saw from my illustration, the main content (video and audio in your example) should be on tracks 1 and 2 respectively.
Also, forget about project markers in this context. As I said in my first reply, they are timeline based. They will not move with your content under any circumstances.
