Adjusting Video and Sound speed of recorded 8mm

I am loading a number of 8mmtape to my computer for Editing either with Video easy HD, or Movie Edit PRO MX Plus.

I have noticed that for some recorded tape sections I made, I used a "Long PLay" feature on the camera. When I play the tapes on my current camcorder those sections play at a faster speed (both video and sound) and I am wondering if there is a facility in either of the above software packages that will restore those tape sections to "normal" play.

I can best describe it as playing an old vinyl music album as 45 r.p.m instead of 33 r.p.m.

It has only occurred on a few tape sections but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

The effect you want is the Speed effect - Effects tab, Video Effects, Speed.

Apply to the fast running sections - and check the Interpolate intermediate . .  option.

If you know the frame rates of the standard and longplay then you can enter the speed factor directly into the numbers box in the effect dialog.

Hi John

Thanks for that answer, I have tried that on a tape sample and have been successful in improving the the quality of the video. The quality of the sound is not 100 per cent and there are still a few "bars" through the bottom of the screen, but a definate improvement.

I don't know if there is any further "fine tuning" available within the software packages?

A long time ago I think I loaded up one of those tapes to the computer using some of the earlier Magix Video packages (Movies to CD & DVD etc) and I think the speed adjustment was made to the original transfer from Camera to Computer, as opposed to loading the fast tape to the computer then editing.  Are you familiar with this possibility?

Thank you for your help on this matter.
