After burning copy of created video why does my dvd player say "Disc is incompatible"?

After creating a video in Magix Edit Pro 13, I want to burn extra copies via "File, Burn CD/DVD". When I then try and play a copy on my dvd player it says the disc is incompatible.  Why is this so and what am I doing wrong? It's driving me nuts as I have to do a number of copies is both PAL and NTSC formats. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Prue

How did you "create" the original of the video you wanted to copy?  Did you "export" it (use MEP to create and burn the video to a DVD)?  From what you have written in the question I wonder whether you are simply burning the raw video and mvp files to disc, which are not the files your DVD player can read.

If you did the export correctly, then simply use that DVD as the "source" for additional copies.

However, I see you need both PAL and NTSC copies; you will need to export your video (as above) twice, once for each format I think.

BTW, having never used the "File>Burn CD/DVD" route I had a look at it more closely.  In VPX5 you have 3 sub-options, one of which is "Copy CD/DVD directly" which is what you can use if you already have the files successfully exported to disc.  However, my reading of this menu item and its sub-options clearly suggests this is NOT the way to author a disc that is playable on a DVD player.

Prudie,

If I need an extra copy I usually just use the software that came with my DVD burner (Nero). Though I only have a single drive I'm prompted to insert original and copy at the appropriate times and all goes well. If the original was playable the copies are also.

Having PAL and NTSC versions will I believe require a second rendering with the new settings in MEP. Don't most modern DVD players accept either format? The differences in lines (480 vs 576) and scan rates were necessary for old analog TVs but not for full HD LCD which scale up to 1080 lines.
