alpha channel disappears from 3D title when aligned

I've got a stereo image which I'm putting a 3D Title over. All is fine until I set the alignment on the 3D title, and now I cannot see the stereo image behind the title (goes black). Any options? thanks

Not without knowing which software, version, is it patched up to date and any other relevant information - see here!
