Animate PowerPoint with Photostory or Movie Editor Pro?

I built a technical story in PowerPoint and would like to bring it to life. I have Movie Editor Pro, but I wonder if Photostory is a better tool. Can someone tell me the Pros and Cons of each program if the data source is PowerPoint? Which data format should I select for best results?

Movie Edit Pro Plus Version 21.0.1.92

Dell XPS 8910 desk top, Intel Core i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40 GHz, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB Toshiba DT01ACA100 hard drive, 64-bit OS, Intel HD Graphics 530, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti

Windows 10 Home, OS 19042.1288

Hi

. . . . Can someone tell me the Pros and Cons of each program if the data source is PowerPoint? . . . .

If I understand the phrase 'add life' to mean animate the text and fade in/out objects etc then neither program are IMO suitable for starting with a powerpoint presentation without a lot of extra work and deconstruction of what you have already done.

To add 'life', ie animate, the presentation is best done using PowerPoints' animation features, once done you can export the slideshow as a video file from PowerPoint.

An alternative involves deconstruction of the presentation, exporting the slides as images minus the parts you want to animate. The animated parts, excluding text, would also have to be exported as separate images so you can 'animate' them in PS or MEP, this in itself raises another issue of ensuring that the animated images where they, for example move into view, do not cover parts of the background - this means ensuring the animated images have either transparent backgrounds or are coloured appropriately so Chromakey effect can be use. The text can be done directly in both PS and MEP.

Personally I would have created the whole show in PS or MEP using appropriate images, video clips, and audio.

Movie Edit Pro is a more sophisticated program than Photostory, however either will do for wfor reconstruction of the presentation.
