Another USB audio interface question

gmg8942 wrote on 1/4/2013, 9:43 AM

I have an Alesis iO2 Express audio interface that MAGIX Music Maker MX does not see.  I have two other DAWs that see it, so I know it's probably configured correctly.  MMM sees my MIDI controller, but it doesn't see the audio interface at all.  It just has the ASIO driver as the audio input, and it wants to record with the ugly sounding internal microphone.  I even turned the internal mic off with Windows 7, but MMM does a magic trick and uses it anyway.  Help?

Hi

Plug in the Alesis iO2 and then check in Control Panel, Sound, Recording tab that the Alesis iO2 is there and is set as the default recording device.

If the device is not there Right click in the main pane and select the options Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices as shown in the image below

Tha Alesis iO2 should appear there.  If it is not there then there may be a driver issue.

If you are running Windows 7 64bit then you will need a 32 bit driver or enable a legacy driver for the iO2 as follows:-

Select Control Panel, Device Manager.

Locate the iO2 device - ti will probably be under Sound, Video Game Controllers and right click it, select Update driver

Select in the following order:-

Browse my computer for driver software

Let me pick from a list of device drivers

In the list of drivers there may be one with the words (Legacy) in its name, if so select this and then click Next to install following any messages you receive.

If a legacy driver is not there then you will need to get a Windows 7 32 bit driver for the iO2 and install it.

Start Music maker and the device should appear as a recording option.

HTH
