Anybody know how to get work space to park full on second monitor in Win 8.1 ?

I think this began happening when I upgraded from Win 8 which came with my Vaio to 8.1.  Now when I drag the workspace from the laptop main screen to the larger ViewSonic monitor attached via HDMI, the workspace snaps back to the laptop screen.

I can reduce the size and park it in place on the second monito, but hitting the maximize icon or f9 sends it back to the small screen.

Any suggestions?

Hi

Have you set Windows to extend the screen to the second monitor?

Press Windows key + P and select Extend. then position the workspace onto the larger monitor, drag the preview window to the laptop screen and resize the panes as necessary.

NOTE you may have to do this every time, it the arrangement resets  if you start MEP on the laptop without the second monitor attached.

The resizing every time is what I am looking to cure.  On windows 8.0 clicking the maximize icon would fit the workspace onto the current monitor.  Now it just snaps back to the primary which is the laptop.  I could designate the monitor as primary and reboot, but that causes other unintended effects.

I just want it to work like all the other software I use on my extended workspace - the maximized default is to fill the current screen.

Hi

. . . . On windows 8.0 . . . . in Win 8.1 . . . .

Have you upgraed the Windows 8 on the lap top to Windows 8.1?

If so re-install the software and select the Repair option when offered.  The Win 8.1 upgrade is known to break some software - MEP included - repairing fixes the issues caused by the upgrade.

. . . . I could designate the monitor as primary and reboot, but that causes other unintended effects . . . .

Without being able to do this the F9 key and maximise button will try to default to the primary monitor - in this case the laptop screen.

Have you tried the Multi monitor with maximised arranger option under Window, Window arrangement?
