arithmetic add of colors

vreijs wrote on 2/22/2018, 7:40 AM

I would like to add the RGB channels of different video together. Say I have three videos: one with a green, one with a red and another with a blue patch. The resulting video would get an white patch erwhe the three colored patches overlap.

Can MEP17 (Windows 10) or a Add-in do this?

<in Paint Phop Pro this is called 'Image Arithmetic add', but PSP can do it only on static pictures, while I want to do it on videos>

Any help is wlecome. All the best,

Victor

Hi

. . . . add the RGB channels of different video together . . . . Paint Phop Pro this is called 'Image Arithmetic add' . . .

Movie Edit Pro does not have this function - what effect are you trying to achieve there may be a work around to get this?

AFAICS with PSP using the Add on three different images R, G and B channel results in an almost bleached out or black image.

Added: I see you found the Mix effect, which does have a similar effect to the Arithmetic function in PSP, however the results are closer to the 'Screen' effect in PSP

Thanks John. It is the arithmic effect in PSP (I can't find by the way the Screen effect in PSP) I need and indeed the mix works. What I do is calcuate the atmospheric refraction for RGB wavelengths and then I need to combine the results of these three together to get the composite result. Some of the results are here:

Hi

OT: in PSP the screen effect is when using layers, eg import 2 images to PSP copy one and paste as a layer on the other, then adjust the layers mode.

. . . . I do is calculate the atmospheric refraction for RGB wavelengths . . . .

An interesting article (link on YT in show more) under video.
