Hi

. . . . . the AVI clips are displayed as .MTS clips in the import window . . .

Where are you seeing these clps being displayed as AVI?

Can you post a cropped screenshot of the files being displayed as AVI?

What is the source of these clips - if camera please give make and model?

Can you analyse one of the files with GSpot or MediaInfo and post the results?

Thanks John for your quick reply.

The video is from a Panasonic TZ40 camera, in AVCHD format - sorry I have mixed up the format names - I called it an AVI.

It is  720 x 1280  50 fps and has a  .MTS extention in the import window.

I am not able to analyse the clips just now - if you still need this please let me know & I will try to do it.

Thanks, Howard

Hi again John,

I forgot to mention that the clips play fine in Windows media player and VLC player, the audio is fine in both.

Hi Howard

Thanks for the info there is no need to analyse the clips, the information you have given on the source and format is sufficient.

Do other video clips import with sound in MEP 2015?

Does the audio play in MEP 2015?

Check that in the program settings (Y key) on the Audio / Video tab that you have Import video with sound checked.

If the sound is OK and you just cannot see it, this is the normal setting for MEP 2015 - video and audio are on the same track.

You can seperate out the audio so it is on its own track by selecting the clip and pressing Ctrl+H.

Alternatively you can set this to happen by default -  uncheck the Video and audio on one track option in the programs settings as above.

Hi John,

Yes other video clips import with sound, & Import video with sound is checked in the settings.

I have just had some success. I have imported another AVCHD clip from another Panasonic camera (I have several) and MEP 2015 downloaded an expansion package to enable an audio feature, (was this a codec?) before the import process. This clip then played correctly with audio.

I then reloaded my project with the problem AVCHD audio, but it still would not play it.

I then opened a new project & imported some of the AVCHD problem clips, and they will now play correctly.

I then reloaded my project with the problem AVCHD audio, but it still would not play it. I found, thou,  if I delete the clips and re- import them, the audio then plays.

I have many clips in this project, which I had imported in order of sequence, so do not want to delete & re-import them.  Is this what I will have to do, or is there an easier way?

Why has this happened? Is this likely to hapen again?

Hi

. . . . Is this what I will have to do, or is there an easier way? . . . .

Hopefully  this works:

  1. Open the project with no sound.

  2. Select File, Manage Movies, Export - this will open a dialog where you give the exported project a name and save it in the desired location - it will get a MVD file extension.

  3. Close the project and start a new project

  4. Select File, Manage Movies, Import

  5. Browse to the saved MVD file and import it.

  6. Save the new project

All being well the sound is restored.

Hi John,

Thanks for this, I tried your MVD file export method, but sadly it didn't work, the sound was still missing on the AVCHD clips. I have had to delete them,  save the project & exit, then re-open it & reimport the clips.

This was a lot of work but at last I have the whole project working.

Thanks for your help.
