Audio is screechy/scratchy

purplegamer87 wrote on 11/16/2017, 5:20 PM

When I record and playback the video it works fine. But when I edit the video that I recorded using the 2016 version (Just bought it off Amazon recently- Had '15 version before with no problem) it makes my audio very scratchy and screechy and makes the video unwatchable to even me and I do not want my viewers to get annoyed and unsubscribe to me because of poor quality (I am a YouTuber). Please tell me what I can do to fix this problem.

Hi

. . . . When I record and playback the video it works fine . . . . audio very scratchy and screechy . . .

Assuming you are recording game play using a third party screen recording software - check that you have the recording software set to record the audio at a constant bitrate - many screen recorders use a variable bitrate for audio and this can cause this effect in MEP.

If not the above we need more information:

  1. Computer specification - processor make/model, graphics card or chipset, RAM,  hard drive configuration, sizes and free space?

  2. Windows version and is it up to date?  Press and hold down the Windows key and the R key - in the dialog that opens type in winver and press enter.

  3. Software full name and version number - as found under Help, About . . .

  4. Format and resolution of the video on the timeline and the results of a MediaInfo analysis of one of the clips causing this issue

  5. Software and settings used for recording.

Also please read this post before replying and add any other information you think may be relevant.

So I have this same issue, and mine is definitely from audio bitrate. The bitrate is 130 and it plays back fine but when I put it into magix it does this odd noise. Is there anyway to get my magix movie editor pro 2015 to run the lower bitrate with no issue?

Without the information MediaInfo analysis of the recording that is causing an issue - it is difficult to determine what the problem is.

In general if you are screen recording you should record using the following settings:

Video

Video frame rate mode - Constant

Video framerate - 25, 30, 50 or 60 frames per second

Audio

Bitrate - which is usually measured in kilobit/sec (kbs) and are usually in multiples of 32 eg 96, 128, 160, 192 through to 320 - as a minimum use 96 kbs - 128 or 160 for better quality

Sample rate - the no of samples taken per second measured in kHz - CD quality is 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz is DVD quality. MEP accepts either with no issues.

Existing recordings will need to be run through a video converter to attain the correct settings - I use MovAvi.
