Audio out of sync with Pro Plus for VR MP4 files

Prom wrote on 12/11/2017, 3:12 AM

Hi, I can't fix it and tried for a week now. I have a VR camera, simple one. it makes side-by-side videos and audio.

The audio is absolutely fine inside the project. Every second is played how is should be. When I export to a MP4, side-by-side, I have very soon a very harsh delay, after 15 minutes of movie, we talk 20-30 seconds. What is not usable..

Movie is recorded on 24.024 frames/sec on 1920x1080... not even doing 4k per eye what would be next step, but I see no way this software could handle 4k, just way to slow, already gets very laggy with this resolution.

Software is the newest Pro Plus Version 17.0.1.148

System:

Liquid cooled 4790K with external heat exchanger has a second water mist fan, if going over 60 Celsius.

Z97 Gaming7 mother board

980GTX with own air channels

16GB DDR4 3333

512 GB Samsung SSD

2 x 1 TB WD Black series

Not sure what I do wrong.. any help? I work with the original audio track on the video track.. didn't change or added any audio, just did some cuts and added 2 video effect at the start and end. Software just can't render it correct..

regards

Jay

Hi, welcome to the Magix forums.

Just to be clear, are you saying that if you playback the complete project (i.e. non-stop) in MEP you don't experience this lagging (btw, which is lagging, the audio or the video?) but it becomes a problem following export to mp4?

My suspicion is that the frame rate you give (24.024 fps) is "unusual" and may cause problems for MEP, which expects 24, or 25 in PAL land.

Can you download and install the free MediaInfo utility and point it to an original file and an exported mp4 version of it and post the results of the Text View of both here?

Also, your computer spec lacks one important detail, your version and build of Windows.

Yup, forgot, Win10 Pro, Version 1703, sorry!

The video looks fine, I would say the audio lags. I can watch it in the program editor with no problem. Audio and Video are always in sync. I didn't changed or adapted anything when I imported the video files.

As the Video is side-by-side, I put the video effects to have one picture to edit and blur. Export I select side-by-side wide. Video plays nice in the VR goggles, 3d, everything, but sound is just not sync.

And here the export screen I use:

https://ufile.io/sqa2o (screenshot)

When I use that free tool.. I see that the software doesn't do what you tell it to do. On the screen shot you see the export is set to the correct frame rate. Magix just dumps that and makes it 25 frames/sec. And I think that is the delay I get.. so how do I tell the software to use the amount I entered in the frame rate.. and not to put it 25 flat? The option is there.. is it just fake? Rather confused as I see the 25 frames now.. but that is not what I set in the export settings.. the jpg does show

cheers

Hi, thanks for the additional information and the MediaInfo results.

One thing strikes me immediately in the MI data: the original file has a duration of 10 min 52 sec, whereas the exported version shows 15 min 38 seconds! IOW, nearly 1.5 times the length of the original. That cannot be right. Even the frame rate difference between the two files, 1.055fps, is hardly enough to make that much difference.

I also see your original audio is only 1 channel. For export MEP is making this into two channels, the norm. But I wonder whether that is contributing to your problem?

Sorry, I can't see your screenshot because the site seems to want me to either register or just download the file. Rather than hosting it on a third party site, simple attach it to your next reply then it can be viewed without that additional hassle.

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean when writing As the Video is side-by-side, I put the video effects to have one picture to edit and blur. MEP can handle SBS video so there should not be any necessity to do what you seem to be suggesting, blurring one image in order to work on the other, or have I completely misunderstood?

Hopefully, other users will join in this thread since I have no direct experience of editing VR or 3d footage.

I took one file of the 3 i cut together.. so length isn't the same of the original and the result.

As I got the frame rate with that tool.. Thanks! That helped a lot! ^^ I opened the project new, used NTSC 24 setting (23,945) and imported the file new. Doing a test render now.. that takes quite some time.. more as double of the play time. Best to get Uber Zen ^^ when you work with this video editor... very slow.

At the end I am not sure if the new project is a big change.. but as the program gave a different frame rate... 24,024 frames/second and I imported with "keep the original file settings". It should have gone to 23,945 itself.

Is my first 3D project, so very much n00b ^^

Ok, lets give a feedback on this one.

I managed to get the sound in sync. If I import with the movie settings.. doesn't work. I need to select the right resolution and frame rate for the project before.

3D Editing.. what works.. what doesn't.

Export to the different settings works fine. If you use 2 Text animations (one animated, one just 3D text), expect 2.5 hours to render on a fast machine for 10 minutes movie time. Without those animations, about 15 minutes to render for 10 mins movie.

When ever you ADD a Text animation, SAVE your project before!!! My Plus always crashes and freezes. You see a little window coming up for a fraction of a second (can hardly see the window, no time to read anything inside) and the program stands still. When you restart and add the 3D Text animation, it always works.

The pictures and Texts you add are nowhere near the spot of the final render (dual screen).. is so far off, you have to place it by test and render. And we talk I place a little picture inside the top third of the movie.. after the render it is not even inside the movie.. but outside in the black area.

Editing 3D VR is very much a big hassle with this program.. I can't recommend it.. sorry.
