Audio Recording setting not sticking

terrypin wrote on 9/8/2019, 11:55 AM

Am I imagining this? Should the setting I've shown remain checked? Or, as I have to do in MEP 2016 and 2017 does it have to be re-enabled for every recording?

I don't recall ever even thinking about this until today. But as the function itself does remain enabled, maybe I've just never noticed!

FWIW:
All looks OK in Device Manager > Sounds.
MEP and PC restarts haven't fixed it.
The mic, an AKG Perception 120 USB, which has been working fine for years, doesn't appear implicated, because switching to my Logitech webcam mic made no difference.

It's only one extra click but - if it is indeed a flaw - I'd like to sort it! Any ideas please?

Hi Terry

. . . . Should the setting I've shown remain checked? . . . .

Not AFAICS.

Tested all versions I have installed - MEP 17 through to 2014 all hold the setting once set, MEP 2015, 2016 and 2020 do not hold the setting.

Hi,

Thanks John, pleased to get such a quick test.

So, of the two we’ve compared, only your MEP 2016 has the problem of not keeping the setting? My version is 15.0.0.114.

MEP 2017 here is 16.0.4.124 (not the later 17.0.1.128). Did you test 2017 too?

The inconsistency is puzzling, particularly that 2020 exhibits the flaw.

BTW, I’ve noticed that the settings can be enabled by clicking well outside their boxes.

Hi Terry

No - it was replaced starting with 2018 through to 2020.

. . . . the settings can be enabled by clicking well outside their boxes . . . .

It does appear to have a longer activation zone to the right, however not above, below or to the left of the check box.
