Audio studio 14 not saving files as MP3

Hi all. I have SF Audio Studio 14 and have 2 questions regarding saving files as MP3.

1. Whenever I try to save a recording as an MP3 file , I get the following error message -

"An error occurred while saving one or more files. The file could not be opened. Make sure the file exists and that you have access to the file/folder"

My work around is to save as a WAV & reopen it in SF AS 13 or Audacity to save it as an MP3. - Any ideas?

2. Is it possible to save mono files as an MP3 with higher than 128 kbs?

Thanks,

K

Have your tried rendering MP3s to an alternate folder.

128kps mono is max resolution for SF's Fraunhofer MP3 encoder.
I use WinLAME RC3 which does not have mono restrictions. LAME encoded 320kps mono CBR spoken word MP3 files are virtually lossless in my sum and difference tests.
