Audio sync faulty

My audio is out of sync with the video and I have been unable to adjust it. Could someone suggest a resolution?

When I run the raw capture in Windows Media Player – it is in sync but when I add the capture to my Magix Edit Pro – it is OUT of sync!

I use Magix Movie Edit Pro Plus, Version 18.0.1.209 (UDP3)

Hi.

This normally is the behavior within a lot of video editing programs when faced with a video file that has been recorded with a variable frame rate. Variable frame rate files are often recorded using mobile phone cameras or screen recorders, particularly when gaming but can also happen when copying other screen action. They need to be converted to a constant frame rate with a program like Handbrake before editing to keep the sound in sync with the audio.

Worst offenders seem to be iPhones and OBS studio along with recordings from Zoom meetings although examples of such files have also been produced from competing products. .

CubeAce - thanks so much for the quick answer. I hoped there was a solution within Magix without loading another program. This video was captured with a Hitachi Digital camcorder - I don't recall this condition on other videos made on the same device. Is there a Magix technique to detect and sync the two tracks? I may have have to try Handbrake. Thanks again.

Hi.

Normally Digital Camcorders do not produce variable frame rate video files so if you could download MediaInfo (free) and use it to look at one of your problem video files and one that works and paste the text views from MediaInfo back to here to see if there is another problem it may help.

If the file format from the Hitachi is MPG then the audio sync issue is quite common.

Right click the video files on the timeline in Movie Edit Pro and select Create frametable (new) this should fix the issue.

Note:

Do not use this option if the video files are not MPG.
Magix is the name of the company not the product
