Tryng to find the setting that will author the dvd for discmakers. They say it needs to be exported as video ST or DDP. I don't see that anywhere. Please help.
With which program? You have posted under Video Pro X.
I have no idea what ST stands for (SubTitles?). VPX does not do subtitling.
DDP stands for "Disc Description Protocol", a proprietary format developed by DCA, Inc. DDP files are used when sending music to a CD manufacturer (also used for DVD formats). DDP files allow you to set all of the parameters for the CD such as the exact gap between each song, the cross fades and other information.
Obviously, if they are asking for a DDP file for a video DVD, then one should question them.
VPX can burn to an iso file, which, I assume, would be more the norm.
Disc makers asked for these formats and I use DDP for audio mastering and apparently it works for dvd as well. My question is how do I send them all the Info needed for the dvd to not only work in a DVD player but to also show the menus when the dvd is loaded. They told me either Video ST or DDP formats are what they need. They are a very legit company I’ve done many cd projects with them. If you don’t know the answer please don’t reply with more questions like which software are you using. :) Obviously Im using video prox. Not obvious is Version 11. :)
I have only used a disc maker company once, and from my experience they are the ones you should be asking.
They should have a guide available giving you all the information needed for video intermediate format and parameters to use as well as the audio settings and how to creating the necessary files and programs to use.
I am not aware of any video editor that has the capability to export a complete disc as DDP - the only information for video I can find is very sketchy - no indication of which software to use and would suggest the process is to rip an ISO image - sounds dodgy to me.
Yes think the only info their specialist gave me is what I stated in my first post. I think they want to do it themselves and charge for it but I've already done it. I simply need to know which setting exports it in Video Prox 11. This seems extremely simple to me. I don't understand the confusion.
. . . . This seems extremely simple to me... . . .
It is not as simple as creating an audio cd, there is a lot more involved in the process over which you have no control.
The DVD structure comprises of the movie, split up into multiple 1GB blocks depending on the length of the main movie, movie(s) for the main and chapter menus, audio files if there multiple languages and other support files containing information that tell the player where the main movie starts on the disc, where the start of chapters are located (time based) etc. All this is only created when you burn a disc in the program.
. . . . author the dvd for discmakers. . . needs to be exported as video ST or DDP . . . .
. . . . author the dvd . . . . .
Create the disc using the Burn option, select your menu template* and create an ISO file - this is as @browj2 has commented the norm.
* You will have to clarify with Magix if the background images, button designs etc in the menu templates are for commercial use - - contact them by email at: infoservice@magix.net - if they are not for commercial use will have to modify them with your own images, button designs if used, etc.
. . . . exported as video ST or DDP. . . .
The disc maker would normally do this from the finished disc. AFAIK there is no software that will let you do the extraction/conversion from the ISO file, or disc, or, as I said previously, a video editor that will export the required files for the reason given above - All this is only created when you burn a disc in the program.
