AVCHD video (.MTS) audio import problem

willem-d98 wrote on 2/6/2014, 4:13 PM

I'm using Movie Edit Pro 2014 Premium and all the updates are installed. ("Version 13.0.2.8 (UDTP)")
When I import AVCHD video's from my JVC GZ-GX1BE camera into the timeline I see the following message:
"An expansion package is needed in order to use this audio feature. Do you want to download the expansion package for free now?"
When I click the 'Download' button, I have to wait for a few seconds, but then it shows me the same message again. It doesn't matter how many times I click the 'Download' button, the program keeps showing me the same message and nothing happens.
What can I do about this?

I don't see how my hardware specs and operating system can help, but they are:
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Sony VAIO laptop
Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU
6Gb RAM
Nvidia GF106 (GeForce GT 555M SDDR3)

Hi

Check your firewall settings are allowing MEP access to the Internet.  Also run Internet Explorer and the try the download again.

I deinstalled my Comodo firewall and disabled the Windows firewall. MEP is allowed in my modem/router and I'm running Internet Explorer. But it has no effect. I keep seeing the same message.

Hi

. . . . MEP is allowed in my modem/router . . .

In is not the problem getting out appears to be the problem, we need to confirm that MEP can actually get out to the Internet.

Can you try the following options:

1   Help, Online update - you will get the message 'No updates available' if MEP contcts the update servers

2   Help, Install extra progems, proDAD Heroglyph - you will get a run dialog box asking to install.

If both of these can get out to the Internet then the problem is elsewhere.

I am assuming you have already registered the software, if not then this must be done.

MEP is already registered. I have succesfully done an update 2 days ago just before I started this project. And those extra programs have no problems connecting to the internet. The one time activation went perfect.
I'm starting to think its a bug in MEP.

Hi

Mine activated OK when I first installed MEP 2014 - I wonder if there is a problem with the activation server, it may be worth while sending an email to Magix.

I had this same issue. Updates worked fine but as soon as I inserted a AVCHD file into the timeline it asked to download the Expansion Pack, which it then failed to do (Finally showed error message -24 from memory when it couldn't download the expansion pack. However, I found that I had previously used another eMail address (in the distant past) with Magix and once I had changed my eMail address to that one, everything worked fine. It's mostly that the error messages weren't that helpful I think. I hope this gives you a clue to find your problem.

I had the same problem. It can be a result of 2 root causses:

1. A problem of downloading the package - firewall, antivirus, wrong explorer security definitions, service wihich is not running.

- stop the firewall and disable anti Virus

- Please go to the system's Control Panel and proceed to "Internet Options". Switch to the "Advanced" tab and find the "Security" section in the long list of checkboxes. Please check whether the options TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 are ticked.

- Bring up the Windows "Computer Management", e.g. by opening the Windows Start menu, right-clicking on "Computer" and choosing "Manage". In the Computer Management screen, navigate to the "Services and Applications" section on the left-hand side and proceed to the "Services" sub section. Find the "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" in the alphabetic list of services and check whether the status for this service is "started". If not, right-click on this entry and start/resume it.

- Then try the Dolby Digital activation/download again.

2. A problem registering the dlls in the downloaded expansion (operating system persmissions issue).

In my case it was the second case. I figured it out finally.

In order to resolve it:

-Run the program as an administrator.

-Drag the mts file. It will then download the expansion and install it.

-Now it should work (even if you will log out and login not as Admin).

It indicates that your OS has some persmissions issues, which Magix is severly effected for some reason.

Good Luck.

Sean.

@NettaK

Hi. You have posted to a thread which was originally started more than 3 years ago!

Although you seem to have the same problem it would be a very good idea to start a new thread and include a lot more information about your computer and, especially, which version of MEP you are running. This post will show you the sort of detailed information we need in order to be able to help you.
